MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A deputy U.S. marshal was killed on Sunday in a shootout with police who stopped her for driving erratically.

Police in Memphis, Tenn., said Mary Fisher refused to stop when officers tried to pull her over early Sunday and led them back to her home.

A police spokeswoman said when officers told her to get out of the car, Fisher opened her door, pulled out a gun and started shooting.

Police said they couldn't say how many times Fisher was shot. One officer was wounded.

Sheriff's deputies went to Fisher's home Saturday night after a woman there dialed 911 and hung up. Police were told Fisher was delusional and had driven away.

"Nobody saw this coming,” a U.S. Marshal spokesman said.

1) Once again we don't know the whole story. could be the Memphis PD had her targeted if she were investigating that dpt. You notice we only have 1 version of what happened ?

2) She may have been suicidal...if so what she did is commonly referred to as "Suicide by Cop".

3) She herself may have been under investigation by that PD and rather than face her crimes she elected the alternative.

I mean come on folks, we are all seasoned professional investigators. We never accept a news story at face value. There is a whole lot more going on here than what we have been told.

I would have to agree... it is a rather short article for a shooting between a U.S. Marshall and the PD. Usually a lot more publicity and I haven't seen a thing on the news and I've been watching cnn and fox network for the last several weeks and nothing on this incident.

Who knows these days... all sorts of crazy things happening in the world.

As has been said it is just one side that they want all the sheeple to believe. Way to little information for anyone to draw any conclusions.

Memphis is a seriously bad city...I mean that literally. When I worked in that area all of the LEO contacts I had advised me to stay "vested up", watch my back, and be extremely careful. They (the pd) even advertise thier own city as a "murder a day" city. That's counting the ones they know about.

It is rampant with hardcore gangs, drugs, prostitution, run down neighborhoods, pollution everywhere, it is almost as bad as New Orleans was before the hurricanes.

It's a shame too. Memphis was, in her glory days, a very beautiful city full of local culture, great food, great tunes, etc. Now it is just a wasteland of crime, grime, and slime.

Here is a funny memphis story. Back when I was on the force there was an officer there who had gone to memphis on a trip of some sort.

Well he wasn't packing but had his police badge and id with him. He told us he had just pulled up to a convenience store one evening and was getting ready to get out when a fellow opened his passenger side door, sat down in the seat, pointed a gun at him and told him to hand over his wallet.

He said he was scared shitless as the only wallet he had was the one with his badge and id and thought for sure he was a dead man. He pulled out the wallet and it flopped open revealing the bade and id.

The guy looked at the badge and then looked at him. He said they kind of stared at each other for a minute and then the guy says "sorry bout that officer" and get's out of the car and books.

LOL... he was a lucky sonofabitch that night that's for sure.
