Can any of your Virginia guys explain, why if these are regular releases not being bonded out, they are calling a bondsman?

And, as far as release times and conditions for those having been BONDED out, it is the same here and, I imagine, everywhere. I post bonds in the middle of the day or early afternoon, at the Orange County Jail where release time is usually between 3 and 8 hours after the bond is posted, and I get calls from my just-released client at midnight...2am...3am...whatever! They are released when they are released! And, OF COURSE they are only wearing what they wore when they were arrested. This whole issue is absurd. Not even gonna' try and understand the whole thing Tony is asking about (why defendants being released after sentence has been served, or ROR'd or whatever, are involving bondsmen). Sounds like a slow news day in VA.

This is what I just posted on the website... Quote: Tell ya what... I am a Virginia bondsman... and although I don't particularly like getting up in the middle of the night... it is, what it is.... and if my phone rings and the bond is workable... I go, regardless of the time. I think this is much to do about nothing. Sorry not to side with the other bondsmen on this particular issue... but I have been at this for a long time and in this business... the best way to get along with those on the LE side... is to bend a little when the wind blows... I understand both sides of this issue but if the jails want to release in the middle of the night... so be it... I will just work around it.
BTW... I don't think this has anything to do with bonding... I think it is just after serving a sentence and they are being released... if that is the case, I don't understand why a bondsman would have an issue with that.

My point exactly. Why would bondmen get involved with normal releases? Why would they get calls from people that have served their time?
Only thing I can think of is the releases may know that only bondsmen will answer their phone at 2 or 3 in the morning.
