“Regulating Bail Bond Recovery Agents.”

Washington State has encountered several severe cases of abuse regarding fugitive recovery agents, bail enforcement agents and the well known term, “bounty hunter’s.” We have experienced felons chasing felons, mistaken identities, police and federal agent impersonations and the list goes on.
As the owner of a Fugitive Recovery Agency, I am excited to see this law finally pass. I testified with Rep. Mike Carrell (R) 28th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT and Mary Haglund, Dept. of Licensing because there are too many problems with this field being unregulated.
It is unfortunate for all of us in this industry to have to be regulated by almost each and every State because a small percent of wannabe, untrained and unprofessional bounty hunter’s. It is fortunate however to have this type of regulation because with the above mentioned types out of our way it creates more work, better reputations in both law enforcement and society’s eyes and an ability to achieve what we all strive for, finding our man.
With new regulation, there will be new rules, costs and licensing requirements. Some of these changes may not set right with you and I and it may cause us to want to voice our opinions. Because of this, I have formed an association called: “Washington State Fugitive Recovery and Bail Enforcement Agents Association.” Mary Haglund, Dept. of Licensing has stated that she would like to have our voices heard, but not all at once. She wants us to have an influence on rule making and licensing requirements, but not all at once. With this association, a representative can voice everyone’s concerns; assist in rule making and license requirements and without overwhelming the politicians involved.
Although this association is based in Washington, we have the ability and desire to have out of State agents become members. One of the new laws include out of state agents pursuing a wanted fugitive must report to and work under a WA State licensed bail enforcement agent in order to operate in this State.
Fugitive Recovery Agents all over this Country may join this association with many benefits. We have the ability to network, help each other out, refer one another for business, refer bail bond agencies your direction, provide a monthly newsletter, seminars etc… The possibilities are endless.
Please take the time to read the new laws that will be implemented in Washington State. Please take the time to respond to this post or email with your views, opinions and interests. I would like to know who would be interested in becoming a member of the Washington State Fugitive Recovery and Bail Enforcement Agents Association. More members means less money for membership.
