If I start walking now and meet you guys there, I should be nice and THIRSTY by next Sunday night. Please call ahead and have them start icing up some cold ones for me.

I don't know, if I started walking from NorCal, I would be frozen by the time I got there.

Where the heck did summer go?

Tony, that being the case. Bring a case of something with you while you walk. They'll get cold by the time you hit Truckee. Don't know where summer went, but it can take its sweet azz time getting here. This feels good in the desert. a few days this week, it felt like they moved the beach inland 200 miles. we had a nice cool breeze and blue skies. All was missing was the seagulls.

Last weekend the Boss, the dogs and I went up to the hideout. We drove up I-80 to Reno, made a left turn up Hwy 395 to Susanville.

Anyway about half way up the Sierra, we hit snow. I was towing a 3995 lb wood chipper, loaded p/u with food, etc and no snow chains.

Chain control told us to turn around and go back down the hill. I faked it and snuck in behind another p/u towing a car and we made it over the summit and down into Truckee, Reno and up to our place.

Got there and had only a couple of inches of wet snow on our .7 of a mile driveway. Could not pull the chipper in because the driveway climbs 600 feet and is full of hairpin cut backs.

So, left the chipper down at the bottom and went back the next morning after the snow melted and brought it up.

We froze our butts off the first night because the "cabin" was so cold from being closed up all winter. Even the dogs were under the bed covers trying to keep warm!

So much for the "unofficial" start of summer. Memorial Day!
