Pulled Over by a Florida State Trooper Today..

That is neat. For Bondsmen does it have be "updated" every year ?
Here the turnover is so great. Folks get into it thinking that there is a fortune to be made and when they realize that there is actually work that must be done to succeed, they throw their hands up and quit. OR, they are so shady that they are found out pretty quick and sent packing. So the Revenue Office would constantly be making changes

All I do know is that you download the form... fill it out .. attach the required ID and Departmental Letterhead Letter for which you worked or Bail Bond Office owner must write the letter verifying that you are who you are..and Mail it to the States DMV.. I dont know if they got it in the mail even (No confirmation Letter), I dont even know if they notify you to say "Yes, you are approved to be removed from the data base... or No, you have this problem or that problem.. I sent this form in about 1 month ago and knowing how fast things move here in FL I might wait 1 more month and attempt to run my tag through my search programs and also my LEO friends MDT, and see what it shows there.. if my tags / license still show then I will call the State and find out what the story is...

if Florida moves any faster when it comes to County & State workers .. we would be going in reverse..

I see the LEO's perspective somewhat but approaching with confidence and approaching with attitude are different. I hold Highway Patrol officers to a much higher standard simply because they are a direct reflection of the States highest law enforcement agency. The put a bullet in your head comment is a sign of an insecure or nervous rookie. I don’t think a seasoned vet would have been so aggressive. Looks like this LEO might have forgotten who the customer is.

The car resembling a police car is not probable cause to pull someone over in my opinion and borders on a 4th amendment violation, but no harm no foul. He could have run a check while rolling and never put himself or you in that position.

I was wondering if the Highway Patrol in FL use mobile vision systems or some other dash mounted camera system that would have recorded what he said? We do here at Texas Bounty Hunters just so we can cover our butts if someone accuses us of some sort of misconduct and it has saved us from legal action from false accusations a couple of times.

It really sounds to me like a new guy with a confidence problem and probably needs some remedial training on how to speak to people. But like the previous poster said, LEO’s are on high alert and I can imagine on edge a litte.

He was out of line with the bullet comment. The car looking to OFFICIAL was not probable cause to warrant a stop The plate could have been run while rolling, it's done all the time. He wanted to know why this car had personal plates on it.

We can request to have our BMV information masked here in Indiana and you will me notified by mail. It will be granted as long as you fall into a certain category.

I have to agree with the majority here. First off he didnt have PC to pull you over ,as everyone else stated , second I understand an officer doin his/her job but it has to be done in a professional manner. He pulled you over to show who the bigger dog in the yard was. They do have the ability to run tags before pullin you over my wife and, I with her being in law enforcement had confidential plates. The other thing is no matter how bad a day the officer is having it is part of his job to be able to go from a homicide to a traffic stop and be able to conduct himself accordingly. I hate when officers use their authiority to speak to people as if you are a lower form of existence. You simply dont tell someone you can shoot them. I have nothing but respect for officers out there making a difference and keeping us safe but this guy gets no respect from me. I would have contacted his seargent and brought him back down to earth.

I agree, this Trooper probably did not have that much time on the job .. and he definitely did not have 1 piece of PC to stop my vehicle "other then he thought it looked too official" which does not cut the mustard.. His comment to me - was TOTALLY out of Line and 100% UNPROFESSIONAL, especially in front of my 80 year mother who was scared to death as he started to pull his Glock out of his Holster as I reached for my wallet... I spoke with a few Officer Friends today when at court about this Trooper and they told me, they wish it were them who were stopped as this one cop would've told the Trooper to go F*&^ himself.. I then reminded this one guy who made that comment... I am no longer LE.. and showed my Ret. ID.. and then he said even more so for the Trooper to just give you a pass and be on his way and not further interrogate you and inspect your vehicle with a fine tooth comb since he was just obviously busting balls....

All through out the car stop ... I was polite .. cooperative.. and offered legitimate answers to every question he asked of me.. which probably pissed him off. He also told me to remove the light bar above the rear view mirror.. I informed him that it came with the car when purchased and was not operational.. and if he wanted me to remove it by pulling it out by its bolts that he would need to sign a piece of paper being responsible for any damages that might occur to my vehicle as I do not have the proper tools to do what he asked of me.. he then said to leave it be...

Probably after he was informed on the radio by dispatch or whomever he was chatting with he came to his senses and became a little friendly and told me to be safe and have a nice day.. I then drove off... shaking my head ..

Every time in ALL my years in Law Enforcement .. I have never spent more then 2 seconds after the person I stopped identified himself as a Officer / Retired Officer / Corrections / Fireman / EMS worker / Doctor / Nurse.. after the credentials were checked and seemed to be in order.. "HAVE A NICE DAY" follwed and off I went.. Never did I bust someones chops like this guy did.. and NEVER went as far as running Tags / Drivers License after being told who the person is..

Troopers have a bad reputation in FL .. and this guy just added to this bad reputation first hand for me ..

Have you contacted his Superior ? That would be the next step, I would think. Yes, NYPD the "bullet" comment was way over the top and should have never been made.

Nobody has power over you that you do not allow them to have. I would consider ditching the car for something more generic, these problems will no longer ocurr. Since you are no longer law enforcement, welcome to our world! The streets are full of rogue, arrogant police officers as much as they are holster sniffers. I avoid both as a rule.

Being a former Police Officer .. I can not and Will not report this cop to his superior only because I do still believe in the Brotherhood. I will not jam up another cop even if he was out of line.. he will do this one day I am sure, as he seemed to have that line of shooting me pretty down pat, to some off duty supervisory law enforcement officer on a car stop and then he will dig his own grave and be disciplined accordingly.. I believe in KARMA.and know he will say the wrong thing again to the wrong person.



as for ditching the car.. to a more plain vehicle , yes that is a good idea when looking for someone if you are going to sit outside ones house on a surveillance.. but we are rolling up in the Ghetto & Drug Dealing Areas..with probably 4 or 5 shady looking guys on the corner & they may all be carrying guns .. I want them to think "JOHNNY LAW" is rolling up ...not a white boy lost in the hood driving a Honda Civic.. my office has a several Crown Vics.. and we roll into an address like a SWAT Team.. it usually sends the undesirables running as they do not want any part of what they see coming.. very rare do I have to go for pick up on Skips in pretty nice areas.. very rare.. if any.. its always seems to be a crack house or high drug / crime area.. and every time we come into contact with Law Enforcement all I get are compliments about our vehicles and how they are better equipped sometimes then theirs..
