Recommendations for BEA vehicles

I LIKE MY CROWN VIC IT'S GOT ROOM AND AS MINTRACKER KNOWS I'M NOT A SMALL GUY BUT NOT A WANT TO BE. I JUST LIKE THE ROOM AND COMFORT OF MY CAR. THATS JUST ONE OPERATORS OPION BUT I SEE LOT OF EX-UNITS IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS BECAUSE THEY SELL SO CHEAP (JUST SEEN A '98 POILCE TRADE-IN FOR $550.00) AND AT THE LAST CLASS I ATTENDED I SAW ALOT OF AGENTS DRIVING POLICE TRADE-IN'S.

MOST ARE STILL WIRED FOR ANY EQUIPMENT YOU MITE NEED, AND SOME STILL HAVE THE FORM-FIT REAR SEATS IN THEM NOT SURE IF I'D GO AS FAAR AS A CAGE BETWEEN THE SEATS BUT HAVE SEEN AGENTS USING THEM. I RESPECT L.A.W AND REX'S OPIONS ON THIS SUBJECT BUT I LIKE MY OFFICE ON WHEELS.

Re: Cages

I think cages are a smart idea if you are going to do any kind of lengthy prisoner transports, or extraditions. And If I am not mistaken, they are even required in some states or by government contracts.

Additional Vehicles to consider for BEA work:

1) The Mini-Cooper: It is excellent on fuel, fits in tight quarters, and with the sun-roof option, avails itself of "quick release" exiting to engage in foot pursuits.

2) Volkswagen Bug: Same excellent qualities as the Mini-Cooper, but it offers a little more room, and can hold 4 SWAT type beas: 1 out the sun roof, 2 standing on the rear bumper, and 1 in the front luggage area...

In my opinion, you should be using a vehicle that is reliable, yet does not stand out regardless of your location. Generally speaking, the Crown Victoria or any other vehicle often used by law enforcement is a poor choice with few exceptions (eg. when you're hunting proactively and you wish to be clearly identified).

Make sure your vehicle is comfortable for both you and your guest, the last thing you need is liability from having stuffed him/her in the backseat of a Audi TT .
