I am not afraid of being afraid, However, I am always afraid when I make an apprehension. If I wasn't, I believe I would get out of this business. Now, being new at this any advice is appreciated.

It's not all fun n games out here...

You don't know what's behind doors #'s 1, 2, and 3; Is it a baby in a crib with a cracked out mother hiding a sawed off under the crib ? Is it some punk kid wanted on a misdemeanor that we all know he wont do time for but he doesn't, so he grabs a gun and shoots you ? Is it a gang banger hiding so deep into the streets that he is protected by his "Army" ? Or how about the felony DUI sitting at home and you begin to cuff him and then a family member (wife, girlfriend, brother, father, mother..) jumps you ?

We all share our stories here, and to the inexperienced or "virgin" wannabe BEA it may sound all cool and exciting...and maybe we are responsible for that in our telling of these tales...I don't know. But I will agree with Scott M. 100% that the day I stop feeling scared during an apprehension operation is the time I need to move on.

The dry mouth, sweaty palms, rapid heart beat, rapid breathing, tension, stress, nauseated stomach, etc...a million things running through your mind all at once... the "What if" syndrome and then the "Oh crap" response...

It's the thrill of the hunt, the adrenaline charge, the victory of the capture that keeps most of us in this field....it certainly isn't the money.

Anyway, each of us will do as we choose....I just pray for guidance and wisdom so that I may make the best decisions I can under the circumstances.

Yeah, she made to to jail. After draggin me down the drive, a wrestling match and a 300 yrd chase. She, uh, tripped and skinned her poor little knees and nose.

5'9" 160lb, 19 yr old girl smokin rock. I never dreamed she could be such a wildcat.

She escaped the cops the night before, but Im not too sure how hard they tried. They get paid either way. It was MY 10k on the line. Shes not going to beat me.

You know the story.

And if you read inbetween the lines its exactly what im saying. Its good to be afraid, it hightens your awarness. Even tho i have only recently gone into the FRA/BEA field. I have been with law enforcement and other departments such as fire and rescue. The thing I was tryin to get out is that no matter what you do there is always a risk, a danger, and unknown circumstances. The thing is you have to be able to face whatever comes with the field that you chose to build a career off of. You must be willing to take the bad as much as you can take the good. Basic point is: You can try to do any job in the world, (One of the only freedoms left in this country i think) BUT if you cant deal with the sting of bees, you need to learn when to stop putting your hand in the nest to get hunny, and leave it behind. In other words, with this work your gonna get all kinds of stuff goin after these men and women, but if you cant handle overcoming this stuff for the reward at the end, this isnt for you. Most of these here....the Scotts, Mindtracker, Kathy, Luvonda, Yak, etc, have all already learned this and they know exactly how to flood out and deal with the negatives with the positives. Until we do that, we'll always be on a uphill battle. Just cant give up till you get to the top to make the fun journey downhill.

Yeah, LuVonda is right. I may soudn like I'm ignoring your posts or whatever else you think. But I read it over and over, and collect the advice from anybody that I can. Especially pros like yourself on this site.
