'Bounty hunter' tracks his man to Flag area

By LARRY HENDRICKS
Sun Staff Reporter
09/21/2005

The journey took him to four states and Mexico.

But after tracking an Idaho bail jumper for four months, Josh Haarbrink, 26, finally caught up with his man in Kachina Village.

On Tuesday afternoon, the bail jumper, Robert G. Ethetton, 56, Idaho Falls, Idaho, surrendered to the Flagstaff Police Department SWAT team without incident.

Ethetton has a $75,000 felony warrant out of Idaho Falls for domestic violence aggravated assault involving weapons, according to a press release issued by officials with the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.

"A bounty hunter was up here looking for a suspect," said Lt. Mark Christian of the Coconino County Sheriff's Office. "He located where he thought he was."

The location was a home on the 100 block of Kletha Trail. Haarbrink, the bail enforcement agent, then contacted local law enforcement for help with Ethetton's capture.

Haarbrink had spent the last four months tracking Ethetton from Idaho, to Colorado, to New Mexico, to Mexico and finally to Arizona.

"He did a pretty good run," Haarbrink said. "We just managed to catch up with him today."

Christian said that sheriff's office detectives interviewed Haarbrink about the case, and by Monday afternoon detectives and U.S. Marshal's Service agents set up surveillance on the home to confirm Ethetton's presence.

"Information still strongly indicated he was in the house," Christian said, adding that Ethetton knows the person living in the house.

By 1 p.m. Tuesday sheriff's deputies and firefighters with Highland's Fire Department had cordoned off the dead-end street.

The SWAT team surrounded the home and attempted to call Ethetton on the phone. When he did not answer, the team used a public-announcement system. Ethetton surrendered without incident.

Christian added that the SWAT team was brought in for the capture because of the mention of weapons in the warrant out on Ethetton. Officials wanted to maximize officer and community safety.

"You don't know what people are going to do when faced with the prospect of going back to jail," Christian said.

Ethetton was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility. Idaho authorities are making arrangements to extradite Ethetton to Idaho.

Hey, that's me!! I made it a strong point to the journalist to ensure that the story was written in a professional and positive light. That was a great case that took solid colaboration with the US Marshalls as well as the Mexican Police and local law enforcement in Arizona. There was another story on it as well, might have to try and dig it up. Just found this post today. Def enjoying this site and the forum. Keep up the good work guys!!

Welcome, and congrats on a job well done, Joshua. I am impressed that once you found the site, you took the time to read and research the posts and find an old article that applied to you.

Most newcomers to the site claim to read the FYI post, and still ask questions that are already answered in it, or are found in other searchable threads.

Kudo's to those who take the time to read what is posted and learn and comment on it.

Good job, and good luck, Joshua.

Excellent job, or as a bondsman client says to me all of the time, "Pretty work"!
Few peole in this industry have the ability and tenacity to stay on task and keep the dog on the rabbit, you did, great work.

Now for the important topic, do you think Leland is hot? lol

You have to read all of the threads to appreciate that one!
