Everyone thinks they know what makes a good recovery agent. DO YOU KNOW!!!!. Please let people know your insight on what makes someone a good agent.

To answer your question about what makes a good recovery agent it is not someone who drives a full dressed crown vic like yourself. and call yourself the only government approved training course I have had numerous agents and professionals tell me about your way of doing business. I just ask Scott Olson of NIBE what they think of you, and they way you operate. so it is not a person like you that makes good recovery agent wearing police looking uniforms on your prior website and we then will talk about wannabes.

One has to wonder about the ulterior motives of such a scathing reply. Hearsay generally isn't an acceptable source to cite, and unless one actually witnesses something in question then perhaps it is better to just file it away.

One should be cautioned against publishing statements without having evidence of the veracity of such statements, lest one may be opening themselves up to slander and/or libel allegations.

The term 'wannabe' is often put forth as a subjective opinion, but anyone can lash out with that aspersion.

If one uses handcuffs, body armor, or anything else commonly found in police work does that make one a wannabe?

One can argue that one who makes declarative statements about how things are supposed to be all across the country is nothing more than an absolutists. No, things are not done the same way in every nook and cranny of the US. Methodology from one area of the country to another will vary.

Frankly, the response preceeding this post creates many more questions than answers about the author. Why is it okay to throw down Scott's name while leaving the author's name out?

What is the background of the author in terms of training, experience, and how he or she operates?

This is a professinal forum, and healthy debate is a good thing; however, when one fails to cite his or her own identity, qualifications, specifically cite sources, utilize rule of law, common sense, history, logic, and addresses a counter-point in a cryptic manner then that person's argument should not be deemed controlling or carry any weight.

Of coarse, this is just my opinion, and I am open to well-written, well organized, thoroughly researched debate.

One-liners, slanderous comments, name calling, and anything else along those lines will ultimately reveal a person using those tactics has having no verifiable argument whatsoever--in my opinion.

The Crown Vic is a matter of preference. Personally I would not transport a person without a seperator, and the Crown Vic is an ideal vehicle for not only that, but for storage of equipment and to keep the neighbors from thinking you're kidnapping someone when you plop them in the backseat of your Chevy Suburban

Lets start with this only a few people know what I drive, so that tells me you know very little about me. my crown vic is for transport only, I have two other cars that I use. 2. The crown vic does not belong to me, but the company that I contract to. 3. The course I teach has been shown to the house and some state rep's that have approved it. 3. I'm trying to get a gov. approved course because we need it. 4. the pic on the old site was but there by a old partner not me thats why I am setting up my own site so things are done right. 5. I cannot understand why someone would "bash" a person for this general question. After reading the replies, I can only agree with the FACT that this negative response to such a question only displays the ignorance of an individual's perception of this field. Sounds a bit personal , BTW. I agree with the latter posts to keep your wits about you and maintain a professional demeanor. It shouldn't matter what vehicle you drive...JUST HOW YOU PROCEED TO DO YOUR JOB! In accordance with law....you ARE required to identify yourself when working. I personally have my own shirts with High Visibility markings, because if a situation should go awry, then I want the authorities to IDENTIFY me and not mistake me for an actor. Also, WE DO WORK WITH Law Enforcement EVERYDAY and having their Cooperation is essential to operating within their jurisdiction. I feel that the only wannabe's are those who neglect to gain all the facts before making a statementor or those GLORY-HOUNDS who seem to only want to make a name for themself!.............MONEY isn't everything---it DOES NOT give us permission to trample anothers rights.

I've been in this field for a long time and putting people down or back stabbing is an on going thing.. I know scott and he's a really good guy, but I have never worked with him so how would he know how I work. I've been from one end to the other and you don't see me in jail or on TV making an a** out of myself. I believe that a person that talks about someone is (YELLOW). the more we try to help out others in our field the more we will come across people like this. because haveing a partner you can trust is more important then seeing if he has money for an association. dont get me wrong it's good to have an association back you if and only if it can.

Thanks for your reply, I have been in this field for almost 19 years and I'm still a student. My agency only contracts to one out said agency. So I dont know who told you what but I will tell you this I follow the rules!!!! when my team go's out we wear jeans and a shirt thats states who we are. people see a pic and run with it. Like I said before I train LE. so alot of my pic's are in tact gear or just a plane uniform. the only reson I have not talked to scott is because I've been on the road working. I take that back scott and I talked in april if I remember right because I had a class coming up in july.. The car I drive belongs to the agency we contract to. thay give us the car to use. My company car is a 1998 and 2004 altima, we use the vic to trainsport. I would be happy to talk to you. Myself and scott like you are tring to set better standers in this field because we love it so much. One thing you will learn in this field, you must look after yourself and only trust a few. Your going to hear people say things about you that don't even know you, but thats life. I'm also x-military and LE. so I've worked both sides of the field..
