Hi Guys,
If you could sum up in a sentence or two, what are a few differences btw a good BEA and a great BEA would be; in your bail bonding and/or enforcement experience share what you look for in quality BEA's? "I want to be the best, better than the rest" is a personal motto of mine in all endeavors I take on. Thanks for your time.

I would have to say that to do your job correctley and safely. Your number one goal is for you to be safe and your crew to be safe. So you guys can go home at night to you alls family. #2 - To have the best training that's offered to you and to know what you are doing out there once your done with your training. Also after training it's best to find a mentor that's been in this business for awhile. They will teach you the safe possible why to catch your fugitive and so you go home at night. Without the knownledge of this business, You won't succeed in this business.
That's some of my 2cents. But there's others out there like LAW, Hunger,Mindtracker,Hounddog, recoveryguy, and others...... that have been in this business alot along then me that can give you alot more advise then what I just gave you.
Just remember, Be Safe out there!

#1, you must always use your head first. You must research your target, target area, means of capture and have a plan of action for all scenarios before you even leave the house or office.
#2, always have a back up plan and know your partners actions without having to even see them. I have always wanted to know how someone would react if they made first contact whether or not it was in the front or out the back door. Always research and plan your course of action before enacting a plan... Safety always comes first even if you have to nab your skip on another day.
#3, always notify Law Enforcement of who, what, where, why, when and how before you take action.
These are just a few of my ideas and what I always do in each and every case.

1) The first step in anything is education/training..."knowledge is power". Don't take just a qualifying course to run around like Barney Fife or Rambo, Really educate yourself in this industry and stay up on it. Read, ask questions, attend seminars, research, etc.
2) If you don't already, start or maintain a physical training program that includes some sort of hand to hand training. You don't have to become Bruce Lee or anything, but you do need a basic set of boxing skills, minimal martial arts, kick boxing, something. Only an amateur relies on a gun 24/7 to effect his apprehensions. In some states, brandishing a firearm needlessly may result in criminal charges being placed against you.
3) Organization: Learn how to set up your skip's files, and keep this system simple, clean, neat, and consistent. Maintain a paper file in addition to computer records. Never purt all of your eggs into one basket. Computers crash all of the time.
4) Choose your attire carefully. When appearing in court before a judge dress like a lawyer, speak simply yet professionally, and practice high standard of hygiene. You may laugh, but how many times have you seen the "Bubba redneck" bounty hunter or bondsman showing up with 3 days growth of beard, stained teeth, food-stained t-shirt talking like an ignorant, inbred asylum inmate asking a judge for an extension or asking a judge for an exoneration ?
You present yourself professionally, have your documents prepared professionally, be respectful, intelligent, state your case effectively and succinctly, and handle it like an attorney. You will impress the judge, jury, Da, public defender, and any other attorney's that may be waiting. If you run a pi gig on the side, this may also generate new attorney's as clients when they see how professional you are.
Operational attire: Too many "good ol boys" run around dressed like tv hotshots, rambo, and police academy rejects. They want to be a cop so bad they can't stand it. You have to ask yourself why aren't they a cop ? Couldn't pass the psyche exam ? who knows. What is of concern here is that every jurisdiction has a different set of laws. What may be legal in 1 state, may get you jailed in another.
To "ASSUME" anything in this business will get you jailed, sued, or worse..killed.
Just dress like a regular joe in the skips environment. If its skid row..then guess what...you become a bum; Construction- you're the new gopher;
skip is on a golf course-you just got a free round of 18 holes from the co-signer; Key here is to blend in with the skip's environment aka "Urban Camoflauge"
5) Networking: Develop as many contacts anywhere and everywhere you can. Courthouse clerks( take them to lunch, send them a lunch (pizza, sandwiches..some states this is illegal so check it out first so you dont get in trouble etc), cops, meter readers, newspaper delivery person (these people are great.. for $20 bucks they can tell you within minutes if your skip's home or not), postal workers (issue wanted posters to these everyday people) . Make use of the neighborhood watch programs aka "force multipliers"
6) ALWAYS, ALWAYS, KEEP YOUR WORD AT ALL COSTS ! WHETHER IT'S SNITCH FEES, CONFIDENTIALITY, REWARD MONIES, WHATEVER PROMISES YOU MAKE, KEEP THEM
