This week, I apprehended (I did say "Picked up" but thought apprehended was a bit better terminology.. ) a female that skipped on me out of a particular court and returned her to jail, got my capias signed and went home.... this is the second female in as many weeks I have had to lock up, the other I had to chase 40 miles up I-85... something must be in the water.... 8)

The next day, my son, also a bondsman went to the same court, obtained another capias on the same defendant and went to the jail to have it signed since he had also written a bond on this defendant...

The jail refused to sign it because the case number was the same as the one I had turned in the day before????

He returned to the clerks office and was told that both bonds had the same case number and that it was an obvious mistake and they would ask the judge to dismiss his bond... of course, in the meantime... if the defendant were to get another bond, bond out and leave... my son would be on the hook for the bond that had not been revoked.... go figure???

Who made this mistake??? but who would have to bite the dust had she been released and run again....

This kind of thing seems to be happening frequently...

We as bondsmen and recovery agents are made to jump through many hoops in the course of our work but the courts can do whatever the hell they want and there is no recourse from our quarter.

I say again people... the rule of thumb is... there is no rule of thumb...

Be ever so vigilant and believe nothing your told and get a signature on any paperwork you have .... CYA is the rule.

Beware folks... just another situation we managed to work out.

Well addressed Mr.Marx, it is hard to find folks that take personnal pride in the work they do nowdays. The court clerk here in Montgomery County maybe the most lame office in the country
