Thanks John, as I have said many times, although I did absolutely nothing heroic... I did manage to serve my tour and get an honorable discharge, which as crazy as I was back then... was quite an accomplishment. I will always say that whatever semblance of a man I may be, I owe probably most of it to the US Marine Corps....
The ones that need our "Happy Birthdays" and our thanks are the ones still in the fight and the ones that never came home.... also the ones that made it back... many in very bad shape.
You want to do something that will be in your memory for the rest of your life... take a ride to your local VA hospital and visit with those that may never return to regular living.... it will absolutely knock you off your socks... it is a very heart tugging visit and it does a lot of good for those guys and gals... some of which don't get to see many of us from the real world... they should never be forgotten and thanked daily...
