Nothing in the website, or that quote, mentions California. The Dog and Pony show are merely here because LA (read:Hollywood) is the entetainment hub. They cannot work in California. Especially, as Tony pointed out, here in OC where the Sheriff Dept's deputy in charge of bail ops is sharp and spot on in his duties.

How bad a recovery agent would you have to be to take pointers from this crew?

Joe,

From what I gathered at PBUS about the people "signing up" to have doggie work one of their cases, they actually are pretty decent bail agents.

They are just going into it for the "free" tv exposure, thinking that it will bring them more clients. It goes to the old saying, "Even bad publicity is good publicity."

Still, the dichotomy between every serious conversation, all of which were vehemently negative, about the Chapmans, versus the sheer number that approached their booth to set up appointments was, at the very least, disheartening.

There are several of these type shows on reality TV, and they all seem to have a common theme. It goes something like this: An inept business owner on the brink of failure, begs for help from an "industry expert", who comes in and berates and degrades the current business model, owner, and staff and then shows them all how to do it better. The only thing I find hard to believe is that they will be able to find enough idiots that will be willing to have this crew advise them. I'm probably wrong, though. After all, it's been done before.

They'll do it strictly for the exposure and to bask in starstruck glory. Whether he offers and real improvement, or they implement anything he "teaches", is irrelevant. Unfortunately.
