There are FRA/BEA's that don't understand certain laws about Fugitive Recovery in some States. Like "OHIO".
In the State of OHIO, You have to be a license Bail Agent or a License Private Investigator in the State of OHIO to apprehened a fugitive for a Bail bondsman in OHIO. There are some agents out there that just don't understand the laws here. I found this letter on a web site that is wrong inforamation was giving to.

I wrote to the License Division about FRA work in Ohio, this was her reply.

I can only answer your question in reference to the bail bond area. If you are not writing bail bonds in Ohio and are just recovering the fugitive, then a Surety Bail Bond license is not necessary. I am not able to answer if you would need any other license in Ohio to recover a fugitive.

It seems to me that this person doesn't know there own law in the State of OHIO. The last time I check the laws in OHIO was to apprehend a Fugitive in The State of OHIO, You had to be licensed Bail Agent or a licensed Private Investigator. An if you don't live in the State of Ohio, You must get a non-resident license to apprehend a fugitive in OHIO.

If this information is wrong, Please correct me on this matter.

You are correct...You would have to be a Licensed Bail Bondsman, a licensed Private Investigator or an off duty police officer in order to do a recovery in Ohio..

Also in Ohio it is illegal to call yourself a Bail Enforcement agent or a bounty hunter...

Sounds exactly like our law here in Arkansas. We adopted it back in 1999 and is very strict as to the do's and dont's of recovery work.

In Ga you must live in the state and be approved by a Sheriff and if you are not YOU WILL GO TO JAIL.
