Working on that! The like button that is!
Maybe by mid-month - I'll have that working for the forums.

Ok,
I think I can reply in the open area to explain what I learned just today.
The controversial matter is having board members who are not in the eyes of some, bail agents or bail recovery agents. These board members should not be even full members because they are not really "agents."
That is the issue. Only "real" bail agents and recovery agents" should be allowed in as NABBI full members.
And since we will not change and remove these persons from the board, some of the people who were interested in NABBI will not join. I guess that may be some of the reasons the "personal non grata" group on FB. But, I am not sure if that is why that group was formed.
First of all, as Scott wrote, everyone had an opportunity to attend, join and vote on the organizing fo NABBI. Some had legitimate reasons why they could not, others had personal dislikes I guess.
Bottom line is, they want us to violate our approved bylaws and make personnel changes, then they MAY join.
Of course that would be like black mail. We would have non members dictating terms of who and how NABBI is to operate. No association in the world would operate that way.
So, I told the person I was conversing with that we will have election in the spring of 2014. Any member can attend the conference, vote and run for office.
However, I don't that they will take me up on that offer.
What we need to do identify, educate and work with those bail related individuals, associations and public officials that we can. We need to put all our energies in working on our goals.
I will not put any more time and effort into trying to convince someone that is going to let personalities or un relealistic principles to distract me or NABBI from actually doing somethinmg good, instead of just talk.
With that, I will probably not spend as much time as I have the last few days on FB. Just too much........ I don't even know how to describe it. Lets say stuff to deal with on there.

The website is pretty clear with the bylaws on who can be a full member, if you're not a bail agent, you can attend meetings, but cannot vote. Was this a one time deal, or can the membership vote in non full members? Just wondering...

Jeff, people are not "Voted" in, anyone can join that has an interest in this profession. We have voting and non-voting membership, and that rela5tes to industry actors and those that have ties to this industry.
Tony, I thought that the argument as posed to me was assinine. Who would have the gaul to even suggest that their membership would do so much for this organization that they would desirte to be exclusionary? Itis beyond me. There are talkers and there are doers, and I will side with the doers everytime. Anyone that would scoff at the $100.00 dues probably hasn't joined any other industry supportive orghanization either. I truly hope that they spend more time on growing their business so that they couold afford to support their profession.
Scott

I understand members are not voted in, I was talking about the issue that was posted before my comment. Am I correct in my assumption that the board members are voted in?

NABBI members become members by joining. As Scott said their are voting full members and non voting associate members.
All board of directors are elected by members of NABBI that are present at the election meeting. Elections are held every two years. Any full member can run for a board position. One must be a member of the board of directors before they can run for a executive board position.
The only exception was this first meeting where all positions were up for election to get us of the ground.
The arguments for not joining whether financial or personal, are just that arguments. I posed to those making complaints to form their own association with their own qualifications.
They will find that it is not so easy to do!

Additionally, it is not necessarily a BAIL AGENT license, as stated earlier, that is required to be a member. Whatever the state requirements are for fugitive recovery (since that is what we are truly about) where you are located, will work.

I have forgotten (old age), what are the requirements, if any, for unregulated states ?
