Hello Folks!
(That just don't sound right somehow!)

I scheduled 3 days off from the day job so I could focus some quality time and energy on hunting fugitives. I figured I could learn a great deal from my mentor and my team over 3 whole days and nights, gaining some experience and great information.

Sunday night, after working the day gig, I went out with my metal detector to see if I could turn up a nice bit of clad or a trinket or two in silver or gold. Actually did find a nice silver necklace with a heart locket but that's another tale. While hunting with my detector, I started noticing congestion in the vicinity of my lungs. Didn't hanker to believe I was coming down with something, but sure as corn grows tall, I did.

By Monday morning, I was purely ailing. What started out as a minor discomfort flowered into a full blown cold with coughing, runny nose, congested chest, and all the joys that come with a cold. I called my mentor, figuring I'd still work okay on recovery jobs, so long as I didn't sneeze on the fugitige in custody. But my team wasn't willing to endure my company. They claimed they didn't want whatever I had. So I spent the bulk of these past three days nursing myself back to miserable. Still have the cold, and the day job don't care whether I'm ailing. They expect me to turn up, even if I sicken half of Brighton!

Way I figure it is, somebody I work with likely passed the cold on to me. Now I'll be in a wonderful position to return the favor.

Meanwhile, nuts to this! I had all manner of plans for getting things done and accomplished precious little on these rare days away from my regular job.

Well, there's always the weekend! Oh, wait.... we have a real fierce winter storm headed this way, and they claim we'll see blizzards on Friday and Saturday.

Well sir, there goes my whole week down the tubes.

At least I'll be over this cold before I go out to fetch a fugitive to jail.
Or at least... I hope so!

Stay safe!
Mel

Sorry to hear that Mel. Sounds like you could have gotten a lot of valuable training in those 3 days. But don't feel bad, this type of thing seems to happen to me all the time! Anyway, hope you feel better and soon get another chance to get some more training under your belt.

Kind regards,

feel better Mel, hen you are sick, you may not be as perceptive as you need to be and that could raise the risk quotient.

Well my geography was off a bit. Bastogne is in Belguim.

But hey I was doing this from memory of a Military Channel show I watched a while back.

I don't know why but when anyone says Nuts, I immediately think about that battle.

Sorry to digress Mel, BTW get ready for more snow we are sending your way from CA.

Tony... it showed up this morning! Thanks a whole bunch! We needed more snow in similar fashion to a sewage plant needs a glass bottomed boat! LOL!

I suppose the ranchers and farmers out here would say they can sure use the moisture. I wouldn't mind so much if it was wet to begin with. Rain. Maybe a nice rain. You don't have to shovel rain!

Thanks for your post!
