Assuming I am able to make the trip, I aim to leave the Front Range early, heading east in the Subaru wagon. Take a couple or three days getting to St. Louis, car camping along the way. In this fashion, I hope to hit some places along the way with my metal detector.

I haven't plundered in Missouri apart from Lathrop, and historical documentation indicates there are a large number of outlaw stashes never recovered from back in the day. Thrown in some really old towns and even a number of battle sites, and I could turn up some amazing relics of bygone days.

So I'm hoping to make that little expedition east, and anticipate enjoying the trip getting there. Just one really excellent target turned up from beneath the soil could repay for the entire trip, including room and the conference fee! Wouldn't that be outstanding!?!? Don't laugh, because I turned up an 1895 Barber dime minted out of New Orleans up in Brighton. It was 7 inches deep next to a curb on an easement. Red Book of coin values claims it to be worth right near $400 bucks all by itself. That ain't too shabby! Then again, I've found gold jewelry that was worth that much and more. So.....

I guess I'll find my way clear to be there in March.

Mel

I lost a 52' Ford somewhere in the Mt. Home, Idaho area... sort of up in the Sawtooth mountains north of Mt. Home.... around Christmas, 1963... if you come across that... there is a wallet with almost $60 in it and I think a half empty quart bottle of Seagram 7 and an ice chest with 3 ham sandwiches in it... (the worst tasting booze made?!, I puked for 3 days and never could find my car!!!!) this is a true story... I never found the car!!!

Sorry, this has absolutely nothing to do with NABBI... but if your out looking.... see if you can find my car... it was sort of dark burgundy colored, 2 door sedan... flathead motor... absolutely true... (I was a little crazier back then.. 8) .)

No sweetie.... frankly, I don't remember who was with me... I woke up in an apartment in Boise... honest to goodness... why make stuff up when things like this actually happened to me.... Karma... I have lived a very unusual life.... nothing heroic, wonderful or even noteworthy... just downright crazy.... it is difficult to believe why I am still alive... but I guess God takes care of crazy people.

... see ya in St. Louis...

I know exactly how you feel! I'm amazed to have lived this long myself. There was a "Leaning Tree" card you could buy with a grizzled old cowhand sitting with a mug of beer at a bar saying "If I'd known I was gonna live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself!" I can relate to that one. How we survived this long is a testament to divine intervention somewhere along the line!

Anyhow, I am fixing to get my registration squared away either Monday or Tuesday. I've to so much to do, and time seems scarce. But I surely want to make that trip. It's getting to where I need a spreadsheet just to figure out my days!

Hope to meet up with you at St. Louis! Don't be too alarmed if I bring along an Ovation, I'll keep it penned up in my room! LOL!
Mel!
