As I make it back to the FRN site, I have noticed some changes. With the sun setting of PC1299, I see a lot of “new comers” to the Fugitive Recovery Scene. High speed company names using the words “Tactical”, Task Force”, “Department”, “Public Safety” and so forth….

Being a guy that has been on the streets now for a while… (Just 8 ), I completely understand; and use daily the “smoke and mirror” show we need in our bag of tricks. However, when it comes to TRUE liability free recovery, I will caution you new comers. Speaking from hands on experience, it only takes one misunderstood beat cop to toss a fox in your hen house. (Farm analogue for my VA friends).

Remember just because 1299 is sunset, does not mean its not a good guide to keep your clients from bailing YOU out trying to arrest one or there skips.

1299 excerpts:
• An individual authorized by California Penal Code §1299 to apprehend a bail fugitive shall not use a fictitious name that represents himself or herself as belonging to any federal, state, or local law enforcement agency.
• An individual authorized by California Penal Code §1299 to apprehend a bail fugitive shall not wear any uniform that represents himself or herself as belonging to any part or department of a federal, state, or local government. Any clothing shall not display the words United States, Bureau, Task Force, Federal, or other substantially similar words that a reasonable person may mistake for a government law enforcement agency.

The same thing applies here in Arkansas .. . We can not even use the word "enforcement" on our clothing.
I have a windbreaker that has "Bail Bond Agent" in 3" letters across the back (which do glow in the dark  )

Lots of such type rules since Arizona 1999

In Georgia, only Bail Recovery Agent is authorized. Although a company name is not specifically mentioned (and it has been argued on many occasions) "some" feel that the same law applies to that title also (i.e.; Bounty Hunter Task Force, Georgia Jim's Tactical Recovery, or Sally's Bail Enforcement and House of Bacon). Though my opinion is just that (an opinion), I will admit that 90% of the time, when doing a call in or encountering LE, they do not know what Bail Recovery is. The typical question is usually asked "You are with what department? What is Bail Recovery? Are you mandated in Georgia? Could you put your hands on the hood of my car?" (Ok. I have never heard the last one :D ) They also want to know why we called in. It is law and I try my best to follow what the law says but they just never get used to answering this call "Hi. This is a non-emergency. My name is _____ and I am a Bail Recovery Agent with ______ out of _______ county. I am contacting you to make my "courtesy call" that is required by law. I am driving a ______ with tag number ______. I will be at this location _______ and I will call when I am leaving. My call back number is _______." They tend to be so confused.

That is so very true Sno . . .
and on a side note . . . when one signs up here with a "name" of that sort (as their sign on name) they cannot change it, nor "edit" their own posts . . . They can only edit what is in their profiles.

That is why it is so very important to READ the first (3) topics in the section titled "Introductions" .

No, David it was not directed at you.

Your sigon name IS ~ "Tamo"

It is for any and ALL who come here to read.

If you take the time to "search" the signon names here and read the Intros you will be able to "see" just what I was speaking of.
