Visit to El Salvador May Help Las Vegas Bail Bondsmen

Three local bail bondsmen under house arrest in El Salvador may find
out Wednesday if they'll be released. Their case may have been helped
this past weekend by a local woman's visit to the Central American
country.
The bail bondsmen left to pursue a man who's accused of raping a
North Las Vegas boy. This weekend, the boy's mother was in El
Salvador. She's trying to make the suspect stand trial in that
country. But while she was there she was able to speak to the local
media, and that could help with the release of the bail bondsmen.
Norma Morales, alleged victim's mother, said, "I said I'm on a
mission. I want justice for my son." Morales was in El Salvador where
the man who's accused of raping her young son is hiding out. Julio
Cesar Nerio is accused of abusing the boy on several occasions.
Norma Morales continues, "I want you to hear what this monster did to
my child." Morales spoke with police and human rights groups, but it
was a reporter in El Salvador who arranged a meeting with a lawyer.
The attorney is looking to see if Nerio can be charged in El Salvador
for the crimes he's accused of committing here.
Morales says, "He's looking into it. They're going to decide if they
have a case."
Morales' trip might also help three local bail bondsmen who are stuck
in El Salvador. They were arrested when they tried bringing Nerio
back to Las Vegas without proper documentation. They've been accused
of everything from restraining Nerio's liberty to posing as FBI
agents to being human traffickers. But more people there now
understand they were chasing a child rape suspect.
Timothy Deam, of Dirty Deeds Bail Bonds, said, "It opens up people's
eyes. They can actually meet the mother down there, show this wasn't
based on money, but a child victim involved."
The bail bondsmen's boss says there's a hearing on Wednesday. And
right now, things are looking up. Deam adds, "The attorney says the
boys are coming home, so we can put our faith in him"
But here hope is tempered by uncertainty. Deam continues, "We're just
crossing out fingers, knocking on wood just asking for everybody's
prayers that they come home on Wednesday."
U.S. Senator Harry Reid, (D) Nevada, is monitoring the situation.
He's waiting to see what will happen at Wednesday's hearing before
even considering making any moves.
