So Vez,

One last time, where can I send a couple of hundred bucks and get a bounty hunting license?

And you did did say there was no background check, here is your quote:

I’m really not trying to be a smart arse and I will search through the site for answers but as I mentioned before, I know for SURE that all it takes is to send a couple of hundred bucks wait a few days and with virtually NO training other than ccw you can carry and pull your weapon to arrest fugitives. I was just having a hard time believing that this was legally acceptable. NO opota, police or military training . No drug and alcohol screening. No psychological testing. No physical requirements. No written exam? Nothing?????? It just seemed chaotic….

So to be blunt and rude, put up or shut up!

Ok, I just had a long conversation with my buddy who is a BH. He actually just became on last month. We went over from A to Z what it took for him to get licensed. Now, I could have just quietly went away and never logged on again or just never admitted it but I feel that all of you guys here deserve the respect of an apology. I was misinformed when I was first told about the criteria that are involved for becoming a recovery agent. However: I did have the $250 right but there is quite a bit more involved in the process. There IS an extensive background check and there IS a state exam. I was wrong and it was unfair t for me to speak without doing research. Sorry…

I respect your integrity. You might consider getting some industry insight from someone who has been at it for more than a month. There are people on here from Ohio that have extensive knowledge of the industry and have completed investigations resulting in captures in more than a few states.

Ronald Reagan said, "Trust, but verify."

In this business on the bail or recovery side, you can trust anyone but, you better verify the information they are telling you or you can in up losing a lot!

I’m not even sure if I should go here but here it goes……. I do still have the original question however; When is it ok for a BH to pull and show his weapon? Do they fall under the concealed carry law or is there a different law that dictates this? I did do a search and couldn’t actually find what I was looking for. As I mentioned before I was very surprised on how quick they were to pull heat.. PLEASE be gentle….
