I just got a box of 25 rounds of rubber buckshot, and two boxes of rubber baton slugs. These will be my first option should I have to discharge my weapon (12 gauge). I tried to get beanbag, but I can't without my license, which we have to have in WASH state as of 2006.

Anybody else use or planning to use less than lethal? I will also carrty a baton and pepper, but everything you use in WASH you have to be certified on. Opted not to use taser, mostly because of expense. I have a couple of different sidearms to choose from should I need them, but with shotgun slugs behind the rubber stuff, I don't expect any problems.

THANKS

You need to read some of the older topics. This topic has been discussed at length before and, your rubber slug just recently landed a BEA in court for killing a guy in Pennsylvania which, has also been discussed on this forum.

Just giving you a heads up to read farther down the topics and maybe you can find the answers you are looking for.

Sometimes a serious show of force is necessary and in that case a shot gun serves it's purpose however having the Police present is the best show of force whenever possible.

If you want to succeed in this business I would recommend a low impact approach whenever possible, this can usually be achieved with sufficient planning and surveillance and if done right there will be no need for you to be toting a shot gun in most cases.

Rhino the shotgun rounds are lethal in many situations - it depends on distance and shot placement - I have seen a rubber shotgun slug kill a man at 75 yards - I have seen rubber buckshot do major damage at thirty yards - also if you walk around with a shotgun in plain sight you open yourself up for a charge of brandishing a weapon.slow down get some advice from local pros get your ccw permit carry concealed get training in firearms-- I too sometimes use a shotgun a BENNELLI M3 tactical with 7 rounds of 00 buck shot - I use it both for intimidation factor and cover fire for retreating agents - in 3 years i have only had it out on one occasion- we went after a drug dealers enforcer with a history of shooting people - we did not get him that day but he turned himself in to us on following day saying he did not want to die when his people at the house we hit told him how serious we were-between the bennelli and the two bushmaster ar 15 m4's he quickly figured out how underarmed he was.for that pop LAW and I were thanked personally by the chief of detectives and made a positive image for bea in that town-- in this case a show of force did what we hoped it would do-flushed out the bad guy-sometimes it only serves to escalate the situation when the bad guy brings out the bazookas or machine guns-so get tactical training and some experiance under your belt before you have serious problems.buy the way we popped the drug dealer latter that year also on a fta-sometimes the bea gods are watching

I pray to the bea gods and the repo gods at least twice daily-I figure it can't hurt--I have a special prayer for du-du it includes lightning bolts and butts

A critical part of the use of force continuum is the 'show of force' as indicated above, and justifiable force is another consideration for the private citizen to weigh before taking action.

There are so many variables to this topic--covered in detail as Houndog indicated--that Hadley's suggestion to undergo training cannot be over-looked or otherwise thumbnailed herein.

The phrase "Less-Than-Lethal" (LTL) suggests that empolying a device will not result in serious injury or death. Unfortunately, certain devices tagged as LTL have resulted in death irrespective of other factors.

Most arrests can be made with no resistance, but, every now and then, a skip may very well take action that requires some sort of defensive measure.

Should the need for LTL devices become necessary, may I suggest that a tactical withdrawal is in order? Indeed, while cops may utilize LTL devices to make an arrest, we should consider that such devices are for defense only, in my opinion.

I prefer the pepperball method it's actually a paintball gun that shoots paintball size pellets of pepperspray.with alot of success. just by looking at the it's an intimidation factor you dont even have to shoot.

I have never used pepper balls but have seen them used a few times-even spraying the skip with hair spray to lock down the powder transport is still a problem-a few pd's in our area will not accept a skip with pepper powder on them -doe's anybody have a good method of decontamination besides showering any washing the skips clothes

the other method i use with the pepperball gun is regular paintballs when you shoot them at the skip he will get stunned because he thinks he got shot which gives you the time to move in and make the arrest.

Brak326... sounds like a very interesting concept, but are you sure this is legal in New Jersey?
