Anyone else think it'd be a great idea for all members to impart a little piece of advice or experience to benefit the members of this website as a whole. I know personally, I am very green in the BEA business but I'd still like to benefit with advice I have learnt in my life that I hope will be invaluable to anyone here. Ok, here's my first couple of pieces.

- If you carry a firearm, read up on your local statutes and laws regarding the use of lethal force, and print these onto a playing card size piece of paper, then have it laminated and keep it on your person (either your badge holder, wallet, back pocket, etc) We used to carry ROE cards like this in my service days anytime I was part of a RF, or anytime I was on Armed duty. It can be invaluable if you ever find yourself in a situation where you have had to use a firearm and find yourself in court.

- A simple rule to follow for those not trained in CQB techniques who find themselves up against an armed assailant: Use any available cover (door frame, trashcan, Refrigerator) and aim for the centre of the visible target.

I hope anyone can learn something from this or anything else that is posted in this thread. It could make an interesting little booklet if we get enough. I'd be happy to collate it all and publish it if does. Anyone think of a catchy title?

There are so, so many action tales on this site... each having it's own anecdote, moral, or point... the search engine will bring up many and just digging through the thousands of posts can do much... each official member on this site has his/her own way of doing the job.... each is unique and some much more professional than others but each .... if he/she has been in the business for more than a few years... has proven his/her technique in the field... good and bad, we learn from the action... re posting old tales is probably not what the 'old school' members will do but again... searching the past posts will get the job done for you.

Specific questions or issues can also be found using the search engine... if, on the slim chance that you cannot find what you are looking for... 'ask and you shall find'...

Good luck.

Bill is so very right.
In my opinion, Why ruin a persons' reading time by putting it all in one place

I iz so sorry, baws. I will try to make sure the search button gets the use it deserves rather than letting it feel neglected. ;)

Ebonics will get you nowhere... what happened to the prose professional Kings English guy I touted on here yesterday???????????? see, when you get upset; u git slopi.

Lots of the stories you seek are in the "On the Lighter Side" section... I have said many times... "I have a thousand stories I can tell you .... some of them are actually true..."

and one other thing... when you get old, you tend to forget what you said yesterday... so if I repeat myself and tell the same story again.... not to worry....

That Alzheimer's is kicking in bad, ain't it? :D You can tell, because it's the Queen's English. We haven't had a king since George VI in 1952.

See, this thread does have a purpose.

I have come to the conclusion that you are entirely too intelligent to be in our business.... 8)

Again, I apologize. Should I make some random stupid statement to drop my IQ a few points.

You know, I reckon the Chapmans might be on to something, that Dog sure is a pro..... :?

No, that's probably a bit too low. But still, as John Cleese once stated, in what was probably the worst James Bond film ever made, that it's probably better to be cleverer than you look, that look cleverer than you are.

Google helps.
