While goofing around on the net tonight, I stumbled across this website which offers this complete nylon rig for $39:

I just bought this myself. Most bondsman I have spoken to locally all advise a good duty belt. It seems like a good rig. Saves money on buying holsters and pouches you don't get with your gear.
Personally I researched as much as I did before I bought my startup gear. Here's what I have so far:
Armor Express Emperor Evolution 3A with Trauma Plate
IMS Plus Duty Belt
S&W Chain Handcuffs, with Melonite finish
Triple K Brand Expandable 21" Baton Black Finish
As far as hardware I have:
Springfield Armory XD .45 ACP Service 4" Model with XD Gear LH Paddle holster.
Charles Daly Field Pump Tactical with 18" and 3" chamber
My wishlist for other gear:
C2 Taser
GPS Tracking device
Netbook with mobile broadband and Skype enabled headset.
Leg Drop Tactical holster
Chemical Spray
M4 or AR15 5.56mm rifle/carbine custom fitted with CQB grips, sights and Beta C-Mag.
A backup .38 revolver, not decided on which brand or model.
Additionl restraints.
Some of my wishlist is probably a little OTT, but it's similar to some of the hardware I used back in my service days and you never if that's something you'll need in a high threat situation. Plus, if I have an AR15 they are always fun to shoot or hunt with. My shotgun is mainly for backup and/or breeching purposes if the need arises.
I would recommend though you go with self defense equipment and a BPV especially if you're not comfortable with firearms. Not everyone is, and if you're not it's probably more a liability for your safety if you get disarmed.
I don't know if I seem gung-ho to some, but from my own experiences in my service days I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
