I agree with RWB. The media is going to put as much drama and hype into a story that they possibly can. It sells more papers! That's why we need to be extra careful in what we do as to not give them an excuse to give the industry any more black eyes! People who don't know how the bail industry works assumes it's like a certain Hawaiian show. Then to here stories like this about us, they assume the worst. :x

I made a post back in Mid- Dec. 08 on one of these same people that was arrested in Johnson City Tenn. He is someone that lacks any kind of training. I noticed the article stated he was a bail bondsman. The last check on N.C. Dept. of Insurance he has not been licensed since 2007. I don't see how the Dept. missed that.

Does the NC BOI list property bondsmen? In Virginia, a property bondsman only needs to be registered with DCJS... BOI as I understand it doesn't list BA if they are property.... I was thinking maybe this guy was a property BA.

I don't know if he is a property bondsman or not. The article refers to him as a bail bondsman. Also, knowing him he says he is a recovery agent. We do not have recovery agents in N.C., you must be a bail bondsman. If you are a bondsman doing recovery work you can only work for the surety company you are appointed with or be a runner for only 1 professional bondsman. After looking at the DOI website last night he is now a licensed bail bondsman. His license before lapsed in 2007, but after he was charged with kidnapping in 2008 he somehow got his licenses again.

Apparently NC mirrors Fl. state laws...they are very similar.
