I am looking at taking the test for licensure as a bail bondsman in Michigan. Does anyone have a copy of the study material that they would not mind loaning out? I can't afford them at the moment, so I figured I would ask here...
Also, any insight from those who have taken the test, that they feel may be of help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jeff

To my knowledge,
and perhaps Andy at Tri-State can clarify, is that currently Michigan does not have any laws on the books for licensure of bondsmen. It may have changed in the last few weeks since I talked with him. He knows the ins and outs and has been watching the guys in lansing while they figure out what to do.

Let me clarify this there is not law on recovery agents in the state of Michigan. There is a license requirement for bail bondsman. If you want to become a bail bondsman in Michigan you will need to obtain a Limited Lines Property and Casualty Insurance License.

I have a copy of the test material it cost me about 79.00 for the study material if you go to prometric.com you can find it on there.

As far as bail recovery there are a few Detroit based bondsman that state that there is a license for recovery agents…There is not. My attorney and a couple local bondsmen have looked over this so called bounty hunter law and they all stated the same thing it pertains to Private Investigators only.

The ones stating that this is a law I would really question their credentials and knowledge of the law.

Thanks for the replys. I am aware that there is no law for recovery agents, and that the Limited Lines Property and Casualty Insurance License does not require a class prior to taking the test (correct?)

A buddy of mine has his license, and is letting me borrow his study guide materials. I want to make sure I pass the first time. That's a lot of money for me right now.
How bad was the test?
Thanks, Jeff

I took a test thru the Prometric company a few years ago, when I got my CompTIA A+ computer technician cert. LONG test, but I passed the first time. I study really hard when I want something... Thanks!

WOW. Been studying... I started making flash cards, but my hand hurts now...

It's like 40 pages of definitions. Is that all the test is? Is it multiple choice, or written answer? Thanks!

Thanks snakebyte, I believe your right, because my examination outline content is leading in that direction..... yes, i'm studying in sections first, and then, I'll re-read the whole chapters again....repeating this process until test time.

Our test consist of 100 questions all multiple choice with a two hour time limit to take.

Getting nervous-

Mine does not have anything, except definitions. This is going to be difficult to remember...
