I don't listen to anything as myself and my team or partner are focused on the case, location, etc. We are going over the case file: fug's stats...ht, wt, physical features, studying the picture...jaw structure, noses, lips, eyes, hair, etc. vehicles, tag #'s, directions, etc. too much conversation going on inside the car to hear any music. I also find it distracting.

We also park a ways away so that the noises/lights from our car doesn't give us away. Car beepers for open doors, interior lights that turn on when a door is open, the closing of a car door, etc all carry in the night air or can be seen from a long ways off.

Also, sounds carry farther and are amplified in the night air. I usually ride with the window down weather permitting so I can hear the sounds of the target area. Many a time I have approached a target location and actually heard conversations from a long distance off conducted by either the def or other residents of the target location.

Comes from my military training...i.e. Noise and light discipline....

Last thought, I don't need anything to "pump me up"...the fear factor usually does that enough w/o any help needed from music.

Now, once the fug is in custody and we are enroute to the jail I'll turn the radio on. It helps to keep the fug calm and his/her mind occupied on other things.

"low rider" is always a classic, remember it in the movie gone in 60 seconds, they had to play it before they could go out

I need to find my CD, cos I haven't played it in a while. The theme from Cops is on it along with Ghost Riders in the Sky, Another one bit the Dust, and my favorite Prison Bitch that I love playing for those in custody. There are others, but I those are my favs.

If you only knew my crew! Couldn't hear a radio if you wanted to. lol. My crew would make the three stooges look like a bunch of attorneys. That with the fact that I have 4 women on staff that tell you to turn the radio down a minute only so they can tell you to get off the next exit because they gotta pee! Other than that some old fashioned bluegrass/gospel or some Bill Monroe calms the nerves a little. Then again, AC/DC suits our crew well when the women get left at the office! Take care and hope this makes you feel better about yourself. Oh yeah, please don't forget (coming from a seasoned agent) too much adrenaline and pump can bite you in the butt. Stay safe out there. Jim
