I strongly suggest you go to the "Introduction" area first and conduct a formal intro. including a signature line so we know to whom we are speaking to.

Have a nice day.

Just fyi, knowing how to research is app. 90% of our job. I found answers to your questions in less than 5 minutes of "googling" BSIS of California on the net, not to mention, alot of this is posted in the faq section under the thread "schools". The fact that you asked this question tells me you have not read the faq section at all, that you are 1 of these "instant gratification" "I want it now" , "give it to me on a silver platter" kind of person.

As Ruffin said, welcome aboard!

www.beabountyhunter.com

Rex Venator has classes that he teaches on occasion with Rob Dick, I saw one advertised recently.
Also www.adventuretrades.com will get you some information.

This is a trade where we are required to think out of the box, on our feet and with nobody else to rely on for instant help.
As a result, new people that approach the experienced without availing themselves of the information readily avaiable on this site are not received well. It is imperative to understand and respect the amount of time dedicated to providing that information in the first place. In our business, we are paid on production. Time is money and there is allot of money reflected in the faq section as well as the archives.

Best of luck to you, work hard, study hard, no free lunches.

Scott

The site for Rex's class info is www.bailspeak.com. They are currently working on a venue in Los Angeles.

I mentioned in another post in a seperate thread, that a Ca. resident can contact BSIS directly and get information on approved, third party instructors in your area. Also bear in mind that there are literally dozens of these trainers out there who provide the same training at competitive or cheaper prices than more well known or "branded" names do.

Like anything else, do your research. If for example 1 instructor charges x amount of dollars, but a lesser known yet approved and qualified instructor charges less than the other guy, why wouldn't you take that course instead ?

Some instructors have developed a loyal following who will only reccommend those instructors; Some instructors even go as far as to offer "referall fees" if a past student sends a new one to them. Other former students/associates are just simply guilty of "hero worshipping"...incorrectly thinking that 1 instructor is simply God's gift to bounty hunting and can do no wrong.

So before just blindly following the herd, i.e. behaving as a "sheeple", do your own research, comparison shopping, and check any instructor out through BSIS, then make your own decision.

Thank you RWB for giving a very good description of USRB's sheeple followers. They heard what they wanted, did what they wanted (illegally) outside of the scope of our profession, and many were arrested for their actions. Even the "owners" of that school were arrested. A very good reason that people need to check out anyone they take instruction from.

I took the class that was required for my state. I haven't taken any others, so I can't vouch for them, I can only post what I know is available. I have purchased and received other training materials outside what was required because I felt they were pertinent to my business. Just because I like and respect a person, doesn't mean that I am blind to their faults, or support them in every way. That is why I only post information, not a direct referral. Everyone should do their own investigation and confirmation of the validity of the class they take or the information they purchase. I disagree that cost should be the deciding factor. I may buy the store brand at the grocery store, but when it comes to how I earn a living, I do my research and choose quality over quantity. All of us should do the same.

My comments were not solely directed at USRB. I am referring to Ca. BSIS third party instructors that may be better known than others, have a loyal following aka "hero worshippers", and are the ONLY Ca. instructors ever recommended on here.

My point in these posts is to avail potential Ca. BEA's of alternative instructor's, that are required by BSIS and Ca. state law to teach the exact same material as all of the other instructor's teach, and that some of these instructor's are just as skilled, qualified, and professional as the better known and more expensive instructor's are. So yes, cost is a factor, if you're getting the same quality product for a lower price, then why would you pay the higher price ? Just paying for the name ?
