A suggestion: I would go ahead and get her/him ? now, and be sending her to whatever school she/he needs so when Christmas comes, She/he will already be trained. There is also the chance that Murphy's Law will intervene and you'll miss acquiring the animal...family changes its mind, a closer person wants it, animal runs away, yadda yadda yadda...
If it were a fugitive you were hunting, you wouldn't wait that long for the same reasons right ? Missing the opportunity ? Well same kinds of things can happen here...and in my world they usually do....lol
