Mississippi Bondsman Arrested

MONROE, La. -- A bail bondsman from Mississippi was arrested while surrendering his client to the Monroe Police Department after officers discovered he was reportedly carrying a stolen concealed weapon inside the building.

Jimmy Logan of Byram, 39, Mississippi, was charged Thursday with illegal possession of stolen things and carrying a concealed weapon.

According to the police report, officers witnessed Logan take a gun from his vehicle and place it into his pocket before entering the police station's booking area. He had a permit to carry the weapon from Florida but was in violation of that permit for carrying it into a police station.

After officers ran a check on the firearm, they found the gun was stolen from Rankin County.




I saw in one article where the witness was a civilian that works for the department

How many times have we discussed this very issue here ? NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, DO YOU CARRY A FIREARM INTO A POLICE/SHERIFF'S DPT !

LOL, It had been so long since I had my weapon on me when I took somebody in the last time I had to get the deputy to help me work the lock box in the Sally Port to secure it. Good thing he pulled in behind me . It was just one of those times that I didn't have a way to leave it elsewhere, and they don't like us leaving them in our vehicle even in the trunk unless nobody sees us put them there.

I about had heart failure one time. I had been on the road with someone else and had taken my briefcase along. When I cleaned out his car, I put my gun in my briefcase. On the way home, I got a bond call. Not thinking, I walked on in, threw my case on the counter and opened it. Thank god no one was watching!!

It was a honest mistake, but one that will NEVER happen again, I can assure you of that. Scared me to death.

Man and that is how our state is represented by a moron that cant take his gun off before going into a police station. Not only that what was he doing with a stolen gun Being a fugitive Recovery Agent.

On another note...in the same "what NOT to do" subject. Never go 72 in a 55 mph zone even when you are transporting a subject. It doesn't matter that he is getting wound up in the back seat. It also is not taken into consideration that you picked him up 2 hours from the jail of surrender. What happens is Georgia State Patrol pulls you over and gives you a hard time about it, then writes the ticket, anyway. Showing them a GAPB ID and the warrant won't help. This will just irritate them more.

I learned this from experience, tonight.

Yeah, Scott, we are not cops. And, unfortunately, some cops dont like us. We have no reason to speed. Even though, especially if the blood gets to flowing from a intense pickup for whatever reason, its hard to settle down and not speed sometimes.

I just did it so I could get this guy out of the car. He was fine when I got him but the further we rode, the more challenging and louder he got. Speeding was my mistake. I have to live with it, if I can't get it fixed. This GSP (Gods Special Police) or (Georgia State Patrol) got all upset and loud once he found out what I was and what I was doing. My papers were in order so he couldn't do anything about the transport...so left us on the side of the road for about 30 minutes, just to teach us a lesson. That is what I have the problem with. I was speeding, yes. I was wrong. But to leave us there for so long, while this subject acts out....that is wrong in so many ways. If I don't like someone, I try to avoid them. This guy kept us around for as long as he could. But, I am going to try to reach him today. I will offer an appology and an explaination....we'll see where that gets me.
