Hello to the members of the forum. While I did a brief intro in my first post reply, I would like to say hello a little more formally.

My name is Larry Schlack and I am located in central New Jersey. I am interested in the Bail Enforcement field as a career change at 40 years old. I have spent some time over the last year or so figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. I have an interest in the private investigation field (I see a familiar name or two from a previously related PI forum), as well as executive protection fields.

Bail enforcement draws my attention for a few reasons, there is much of the private investigator type work involved in locating a bail skip. There is also the satisfaction that you are doing a good deed by removing a wanted person off the street. And lastly there is the challenge and activity involved in actually arresting the subject and safely (on both their and our behalf) returning them to custody.

I don't fancy myself as a LEO wanaabe. I personally feel that the LEO's have enough on their plate just keeping the peace and getting the subject in custody the first time. They are too under resourced and busy to have to be running after persons several times because they skipped bail. I prefer thay spend their time keeping our neighborhoods and families as safe as their circumstances allow.

I am interested in learning from the members from all over the country and especially speaking with those involved with this business in the NJ, NY, PA area.

I am attending an agent training course next month to get some input on some of the basics of the business. I would be interested in any work to gain experience in the field, even if it's just transport or escort after the apprehension on an as needed or part time basis.

Being a new guy I'm not full of myself and willing and eager to learn from other experienced members here and in my area.

Thanks for listening and I look forward to participating here.

Larry,

From one member to another, welcome to a forum filled with voluminous stacks of threads that you may find of acute interest and well worth the time to peruse.

Your writing style and chosen use of words lends to the immediate impression that you are ostensibly level headed.

My suggestion is that you immerse yourself in everything you can find on the BE trade before actually making any cost-prohibitive investments to include doing your own legal research.

Finally, since this trade is so very difficult to enter, your best approach may very well be by gaining training and experience under a mentor, which is equally difficult to obtain.

Good Luck,

Rex

Rex,

Thank you for the welcome, kind words and advise. I will attempt to seek out a working professional in my area who might be willing to teach an old dog something new.

My immediate goal would be to work at BE on a part time basis and keep my full time position for now. Perhaps I will start another thread here on the board later in the week regarding such an opportunity.

Thanks again.

LARRY WELCOME TO BEST BUNCH OF MISUNDERSTOOD DISFUNCTIONAL BRAVEST IDIOTS THAT GOD PUT ON THIS EARTH(I AM ONE OF THEM SO I GUESS I AM QUALIFIED TO SPEAK).WHO ELSE BUT WE BEAS WOULD RISK OUR LIVES, OUR FAMILIES WELL BEING, ARGUE ABOUT THE PITANCE WE GET PAID FROM THE BONDSMEN(IF WE EVEN GET PAID IN THE SAME CENTURY AS THE ARREST)MAYBE GET SUED BY EVERBODY, HATED BY THE PEOPLE WE SERVE(THE GENERAL PUBLIC)SHUNNED BY THE PEOPLE WE ASSIST(SOME POLICE)CALLED COWBOYS AND OUTCASTS AND VIGILANTES BY THE MEDIA(LIBERAL A-HOLES) THAN US-THE ANSWER IS NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND-I BELIEVE THAT PROVES MY POINT.
IF YOU BREAK DOWN OUR JOBS OUR ROLE IS SIMILAR TO THE POLICE ONLY HARDER AT TIMES. WE TRACK DOWN BAIL JUMPERS(MANY OF THESE PEOPLE ARE REPEATERS WITH A VESTED INTEREST NOT TO GO TO JAIL AND WILL DO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING TO STAY FREE-WE DO NOT HAVE POLICE FORCES WITH MILLION DOLLAR BUDGETS AND MANPOWER TO BACK US UP WHEN THE CA-CA HITS THE FAN-WE DO NOT HAVE THE POWER OF THE STATE TO DROP ON PEOPLES SHOULDERS TO FORCE THEWM TO GIVE US INTEL .WE HAVE BRAINS GUTS AND STRONG CONVICTION TO SEE THAT JUSTICE IS DONE -WE GET PAID LIKE ANY POLICE OFFICER(DO NOT TELL ME MOST LEOS WOULD WORK FOR FREE)WE ARE NOT SWORN TO PROTECT AND SERVE(BUT WE DO ANYWAY)THERE ARE NO SAFETY NETS PROTECTING OUR FAMILIES IF WE ARE INJURED OR KILLED-THERE ARE NO UNIONS OR BARGINING BOARDS TO REPRESENT US-ARE WE AVENGING ANGELS OUT TO CURE THE ILLS OF MAN - NO WE ARE PEOPLE(BOTH MALE AND FEMALE)WITH A STRONG SENSE OF RIGHT AND WRONG WHO PUT OUR VERY LIVES ON THE LINE DAILY AND MAYBE MAKE A LIVING DOING IT.(THERE ARE SOME WHO HAVE DIFFERENT MOTIVATION BUT I SUSPECT THEY ARE FEW ANF GET WEEDED OUT SOONER OR LATER.
THE PEOPLE WE SERVE DO NOT HEAR ABOUT THE GOOD WE DO ONLY THE BAD(MANY TIMES A SLANT IS PUT ON THE EVENTS TO MAKE US LOOK BAD)-THE PUBLIC DOES NOT SEE THE THOUSANDS OF ARREST WE MAKE YEARLY HELPING TO MAKE THEIR STREETS SAFER FOR THEM

As always, we have all come to expect hard-hitting, no punches pulled, candid, and tell-it-like-it-is remarks from Hadley--who never yields to political correctness or otherwise minces words, and, on the weight of such, we should always listen.
