Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and wanted to know a question.

I have wanted to become a bail recovery agent and am moving to california very soon. I know there is bounty hunters in california and bail bond companies. ALOT of them. But I am moving to southern california and the city of Huntington Beach in orange county, near newport beach.

Are there any bail bond companies down and bounty hunters down there? Is there any work in this area. Thanks and GOD BLESS

Sorry to tell ya but from what ive heard Cali isnt one of those states that you can just jump right into work in this field. Before doing anything you should check UP TO DATE regulations and/or laws as to what state you want to work in. Also before advertising that your availible for work make sure that you have what is required for a employer in this field to hire you before going even any further. The laws in each state are getting tuffer and tuffer on this so spend some reading time and study whats going on in the state you want to work in first.

As far as answering your original question....yes there is plenty of work ive heard in C.A. but say a little more about yourself. State your experience, schooling, and/or training. Remember knowledge and training is key, not broad or muscle. Put yourself out to be as professional to these men and women as possible, but make sure you have the right things to back it up because any good employer in Bonding will know right off the bat if you know what your doing or not. Theres plenty of real pros here. You never know who will read your info and might grant you some work (after completing the requirements).

If theres anything else just ask.

Rick

PS- Resumes are also a excellent thing to give out to bonding agencies.

As Rick said, there are some classes required by California state law that you are required to take. If you are thinking about making a living as a Bail Fugitive Recovery Person here in California, I might suggest that you find full time job as well. Most Bail Agents out here are more careful about the bonds they write. And, for a new person breaking into this field, it will not be easy. I'm not saying that it can't be done, though. Try contacting Tony Suggs here on the forum. Tony is a licensed Bail Bond Agent as well as a member of the board for the California Bail Agents Association. He will probably have more detailed information for you. Good luck!

call Tony Suggs ~ tsuggs
there are a few here from Cali and will give you info, however you should do all the research that you can before calling so as to be informed in your questions.
Please ~ do not rely on websites that provide State Statutes as a service. LOOK the Statutes up on the specific State's Website ~ then ask questions. The only dumb question is the one not asked

Hi BBFJC,

I tend to treat southern CA as one large city. You may be in Orange County but you better know the whole LA metro area. You can and will be chasing someone all over the place.

Secondly, learn Spanish!

Look up CA penal code 1299 for the BFRP requirements. Classes for each of the 3 courses you must take are readily available in the SoCal area.

If you haven't any LE, PI or military experience, it may be hard to get started. Not impossible, just hard.

Finally, there are plenty of bail agencies in the SoCal area. There are also plenty of bfrps. Try hooking up with another recovery person or recovery company.
