I have noticed that there are a lot of badges worn by members of this forum with "Bail Enforcement Officer", "Bail Enforcement Agent", "Fugitive Recovery Agent" on them.
If you don't use any of these titles {which are on your badges} what do you use.
And as for rank what's the difference in a security firm using rank or a "bounty hunter" firm using them.
I would think that in a company it would give professionalism to it.
Where I used to work security in Indiana we had a Chief, a Lt, I was a Sgt. I dont really see what the big deal is

You are confusing The occupational identifiers with ego monikers.

Some of us carry badges or ID cards, openly displayed, so when we go to apprehend someone we are easily and immediately recognized by Leo's as "the good guys" so we don't get shot by them, restrained by them, and hopefully arrested by them.

The title question is regarding self-proclaimed status as "col." Senior Agent in Charge"; "Special Agent", etc. There is no rank and file in our industry. Just because someone proclaims themselves to be the "Special agent in charge"..says who ?..what makes you so special ?..in charge of what ?

The rest of the answer to your question regarding the difference between uniformed rent a cop security firms vs BEA's is that those firms are well established, therefore well precedented in thier use of ranks within thier organizations which Leo's have come to accept and recognize over the years.

FYI: "Special or Senior agent in charge" usually refers to an FBI title for that regions head investigator. Acronym-SAC. Try calling a Lea for networking or developing intel and refer to yourself as SAC john Doe....See how far you get with it...may be a trip to the local jail.

The last point I wish to make, is what i've I already stated...if you have to boost your self esteem with a rank..then this isn't the job for you. BEA's are regular citizens with no more privileges or special powers than any other citizen. So why try to make yourself into something you aren't ?
Bestowing a self chosen rank upon yourself is nothing more than ego stroking. What did you do to earn that self proclaimed status of Col, Sr, Lt, Sgt, ...? NOTHING !

I guess it is okay for me to use SGT, etc, since I am retired from the US active Army as a Sergeant First class (E-7) and in some of my signatures lines I use Robert Brown, USA SFC Ret.

Mr. Brown,

We aren't discussing using earned ranks/titles through the Military or other government institutions.

What we are discussing are BEA's that bestow these kinds of titles upon themselves for no other purpose other than stroking there ego.

I also want to thank you for your service to our country, and you have indeed EARNED the right to call yourself "Sgt." Whereas the knuckleheads that do this have not.

Let's see, my sig says GM, so I must be a "General Major"! Wow, and all this time I thought I was just the guy who kept people working, the company running and delt with all BS this business has to offer. Where's my wife, she needs to know she's been lovin on a "General Major" and not just a company GM.

BTW, for those who don't know me, I GM for the bonding co. and own the Recovery and Security company. Just an FYI :?

Yea, I dont understand the title thing.

A capt. in the military earns his title, Its Kinda like a kick in the balls to military personel or police officers.
