The reason that there are no licensed BEA's in NY is the law requires a $500,000 bond against a willful criminal act, and no such animal exists.

To further the discussion, Deleware requires a license as well, and is taught by the DE State Police, and nobody else, regardless what you may have been told in your training. VA, SC and NC are the same as well.

This is why networking is essential to your success in this business. If I have a skip in the NE, I call Hadley. TN I call Joe Stiles etc.

Lastly, your signature line is equally important. I do not hire or respond to adds with "Agent" or "Special Agent" or a rank for that matter in their sig. line. I have never understood why the owner of a BEA company chooses a rank other than Generalisimo, instead they are LT.... Col...Sgt....???????

Happy Holidays!

Scott

SCOTT;

Excellent posting! I refuse to farm out cases to individuals with a sig line like this. In my OPINION, this is a law suite waiting to happen.

Steve
Here is my issue:
An agent is a contracted individual (written or verbal) that has been transferred the authority from one who possesses it, to perform a task. I am restricting this to Bail Bonding as I do not wish to get involved in a superfluous discussion.

There is nothing "Special" about this relationship, period.

If you are posting on boards soliciting work, you are not currently an actor in this relationship and therefore not an "Agent" of any kind.

Scott;

I agree with you on your posting. BUT, when I see someone post in their sig line like: Sgt, LT, Commander, etc. this sends a RED FLAG to me. The Sig Line tells me this individual is just another wanna-be cop. And that means law suite waiting to happen.

That is my OPINION and I pass out over 200G a year in cases.

As always, YOU are the Supreme Generalisimo :D

Like others here have said, I, too, would never hire anyone who has the word Agent, Special Agent or a military type rank! The rank thing probably agitates me more than the others. As a US Army retiree, I worked hard and it took years to attain my ranks.

I concur with the stated opinions on the use of titles. Unless they are earned and used in the proper context, they mean absolutely nothing to anyone except the person using them.

Let's see, I own a BEA company so that makes me the Captain or Chief. My second in command is a Lieutenant and the other person is a Sergeant. And that means what? and to who? :roll:

I recently was hired to back uo a BEA form out of town. His title was SR. Agent. After working with him I think he earned that title. He showed up on time, paid what he said. I learned as much from him in a day has I had in the past year. My point being i'm not that concerned what some one put's in there tag line.

I remember attending the TAPBA certification course in '05 in Nashville, Tn. Which Scott made similar statements to the 200+ attendees.

Unfortunately, much to my embarrassment, I was seated beside a TN good ol boy wearing a ball cap with the words : "Special Agent" on it. Being so intimately familiar with Murphy, naturally this guy wouldn't/couldn't keep his mouth shut during the training. Finally, Scott M. put him in his place and shut him up by attacking his alleged "special" status. I was laughing so hard inwardly, it was all I could do to keep a straight face.
