Having read the following post (copied from the NRA/ILA website and posted on the above website… r u confused yet??), I wrote the now sitting Governor Tim Kaine a letter… if you are so inclined, you might consider doing the same if you are in agreement with the new legislation that is before him now.

Virginia House of Delegates Passes Critical Right-to-Carry Reform Legislation

Thursday, February 21, 2008
Please Contact Your Delegate and Thank Him or Her for Supporting SB436 and SB476!
Earlier today the House of Delegates passed two critically important self-defense measures by overwhelmingly bipartisan majorities. Senate Bill 436, sponsored by Senator Jill Vogel (R-27), and Senate Bill 476 sponsored by Senator Emmett Hanger (R-24), are now heading to Governor Tim Kaine (D) for consideration. SB436, which passed in the House of Delegates 69 to 29, will allow law-abiding, non-concealed carry permit holders to store a handgun in a locked compartment or container in their personal vehicles or boats. SB476, which passed 62 to 36, will allow restaurant owners to decide if they will allow concealed carry permit holders to carry in their restaurants.
Both of these bills represent significant advances in an ongoing effort to protect and enhance Virginia’s self-defense statutes. Please call and thank your Delegate if he or she voted for these important self-defense bills, and also please contact Governor Kaine and strongly encourage him to sign both of these measures into law! A copy of my letter follows:

Governor Kaine,
Having voted for you and supported you in your position as Virginia Governor, I would greatly appreciate your support on the two bills which have passed and are coming to you for consideration. SB436 and SB476

As a legal and licensed concealed carry permit holder and a member of the DCJS community in my business for many years, I feel that these two laws would enhance the general safety of all concerned and reduce the inherent problems with the general wording of the present Virginia concealed carry laws.
Legal concealed permit holders have never been the problem with firearm mismanagement. The criminal elements in our society do not care what the law says and it is up to each of us as law abiding citizens and the constitutional right of each US citizen to be able to defend ourselves when faced with criminal intent against ourselves or our loved ones.
Thank you for your support of these two very important measures.

I did not identify myself as a bail bondsman... only a member of the "DCJS community". I felt that was sufficient for this purpose and there are occasions, unfortunately, when our profession is looked upon unkindly, for whatever misconstrued reasons... particularly and I am not sure if this applies in this instance... by the Democratic party. It has been my experience that this political party generally is not particularly pro-gun... would you agree? Governor Tim Kaine is a Democrat and generally follows that line, I hope he follow the line of his legislatures on these issues.

FINAL UPDATE:

MARCH 4, 2008
JUST IN CASE ANYONE WAS INTERESTED!! :(
Well, these bills will have to wait for another day… our illustrious Democratic Governor, Tim Kaine, chose to VETO both bills, SB436 and SB476. Bottom line: that’s the end of that. Maybe later
