WLWT.com updated 12/3/2010 2:45:21 PM ET 2010-12-03T19:45:21 Share Print Font: +-CINCINNATI — WLWT.com A former bail bondsman is suing the Ohio Department of Insurance, claiming selective enforcement. Debra Henneke said the state was playing favorites and she's now looking to collect $20 million. The paperwork was filed in Columbus on Thursday. Henneke said her insurance license was revoked for passing out business cards for her bonds business on the grounds of the Hamilton County Courthouse. That activity is prohibited. But Henneke said she provided video to the state of other bondsmen doing the same thing, but no one else has been penalized. "Because they allow everyone to do exactly what I'm accused of, and it happens right now today," Henneke said. "My private investigator has proof of everything -- recordings, business cards being handed out -- and they only came after me?" This may highlight a potential weakness in the system, but it may also affect citizens. Henneke said the soliciting issue is linked to other problems that leave Hamilton County without millions it's owed in forfeited bail money. ."People should be outraged," Henneke said. "The fire department union, the police union should be out there. They should be outraged and want this money from (Clerk of Courts) Patricia Clancy." Henneke is scheduled to go to court Dec. 6. |

Where did she come up with $20 million? Most bail agents will not net that in their lifetime even if they started when they were 2 years old! |

If I can't net that much, can I at least gross it? I'll settle for that too. Actually the same thing has happened here where I live. I think that I would be upset just as well. Maybe I'm off on the subject, if so enlighten me. It's also weird, because as a Process Server I can leave business cards on a board at the courthouse, but as a Bail Agent I can't. But wait, I think I get it now that i've typed it. The SO and the Courthouse window are in the same corner of the building. I hate when that happens. But it was happening here at some time before I came to work here and my boss actually wrote to the DOI to ask them to investigate, and if they found it to be legal then we too should be able to compete with our competitors on a level field. No? |
