Lately here in Miami it has gotten to the point where some desperate / bottom feeder companies bail people out for 5% and not 10% figuring if an Agent brought them the bond they would only be getting 5 points anyways.. so to "SNIPE" the bond they do it for 5%.. I get calls all the time (For Example a $5000 Bond) asking me how much would it be to get my Boyfriend / Girlfriend / Wife / Husband outta jail .. When I tell them what the 10% would be which is $500.. they respond .. "Well I called this other company and they told me $300 .." at that point I tell them... GOOD LUCK Go With That Company .. and hang up .. I have no time to chase money .. This "Discount" will most likely cost you money in the future by the deft not showing at court and estreating the bond.. then ya gotta go pay for the pick up .. and or lawyer to re set the case and set aside the estreature and BW.. A headache we already have to deal with when we collect the FULL REQUIRED LEGAL Amount of the Bond.. Screw Discounting the Bond and Gaining more headaches..
If a company wanted me to wait at the Jail anywhere from 6 to 24 hours after the bond is posted (Cause thats how long it takes for a deft to get released after bonds are posted in Miami) and then drive a Deft Home They will be paying me $300 to $500 per deft depending how long I needed to wait and how far they lived to include gas and mileage fees..

This, too, is common practice in California. Southern Cali anyway.

Well,
In reality, even the 5% down is gone in many places. It is now 1 or 2%. I get those calls on a regular basis.
Now the Boss gets worried every time we don't write a bond in weeks. Then someone will walk in the door with full premium in cash. Just this Monday that happened. $45K bond, full cash up front for charges that will most likely be dropped.
So, I also don't play the negotiating lower premium game. I just wait for the good bonds to call or walk in.
