Sounds Familiar All Across the U.S.

This seems to be a problem that is epidemic...I can't seem to wrap my head around it...don't people what to make more money..and if everyone is singing the same song then there is nowwhere for these defendants to run too looking for a better deal...They are lucking they have even have bail available...they should pay and I do not know if the judge's have any authority over this crap..because in the end the bondsman has guaranteed the full amount set by the court.. I suppose a judge could start settint $Million dollar bails...then none of these Foodstamp bondsman would dare risk a forfeiture...then again it might put a few of the bad one's out of business...sorry for the rant...

Happens all the time.... in Virginia you must charge 10% but financing gets around that fee.... bondsmen in my area are advertising 5% down and then not worrying about collecting the rest... they have told me.... "5% is better than nothing"... and frankly, they have a point...

My take is that I charge 10% and will finance with 65% of the premium up front and the rest in 30 days, no exceptions and if not paid... I will revoke the bond for non compliance with bond conditions... I also will not finance anything under 10,000. Some states will not allow you to revoke a bond for non payment of premiums but it is written into my contracts and I enforce it... and on the few times that I have done this.... I have not been questioned.... "they read it, they sign it and they comply or suffer the consequences".

It is a dog eat dog world and the unethical bondsmen are driving the industry into the sewer.

This is only one of many unethical moves made by many bondsmen in our industry.... frankly, as long as the regulatory agencies do nothing about it... even when provided with solid proof... I fear it will do nothing but escalate the problems... fact is... "honesty does not pay".... sad state of affairs but I will go down fighting... I refuse to put myself in the gutter with the rest of these.... m$%^^&*@##s...
