I cannot find this story on FRN although I seem to recall that I may have posted it sometime in the past.... if so I apologize but in light of a couple of threads on here lately.... here it is again... I think it is worth the read.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

A Chemistry professor at a large college had an exchange student in the class. One day in class, the Professor noticed one young man (the exchange student)who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat; you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops, welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms... just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself; you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America.

God help us when the gate slams shut! ... listen closely to what the politicians are promising you - just maybe you will be able to tell who is about to slam the gate on America.

Postscript on this....

I have a comment... the problem as I see it, is fairly simple and there is no cure because it is based on human nature which cannot be changed.

All living creatures seek out the easiest route... humans are the most successful at this because their thought process and their intelligence allows them to create easier and easier processes and ways of working and achieving goals "smarter not harder". Now that is not to say there are not individuals that will strive and work hard to achieve success in whatever they are in to but the vast majority of humans will always, by their nature, seek the low road... the easy road... and that usually involves finding someone else that they can get to do whatever it is... for them... thus making life easier and the big answer to that solution for them is..... you guessed it... THE GOVERNMENT.

So, the two reasons we will eventually fail as all other civilizations have done in the past... is based on human nature and complacency.... the "seeking of the easy route" and the "lack of interest" to fix problems.

I hate to be a pessimist here but it will eventually happen.... and there is not a damn thing we can do about it but watch and try to maintain our own personal space and life, cause the rest of the pigs are gonna keep eatin' the free corn.

Great post. The New World Order is coming. My best advice is to stock up on survivalist supplies. You never know when you might have to survive on your own.

I believe in the Roman days, it was referred to as "Bread and Circus",
No govenment on earth, yet, has existed in a static state forever. I believe Nixon paraphrased it as "the only thing constant in government is change."
Lessons learned I guess.

If you can get through it.... the book "Atlas Shrugs" spells it out.

I think Margaret Thatcher was the one who made the quote....

"The trouble with socialism is simply that sooner or later............ you run out of other people's money."

One problem with this country is we have been feed the free corn and the gates of democracy were slammed around us. We are not a democracy. The term democracy does not exist in any of our founding documents. We are to be a republican form of government(not the party). Democracy equates to mob rule. If the majority of the pigs are in the fence under democracy they can give up your rights to the farmer and you will be hunted and put in the fence.

This country is becoming socialist because of free corn. We are being forced to be socialists because of democracy. In a republic the individual has rights not the majority. I think most people have been taught we are a democracy which started in WW2. Democracy is alive and well in America. It's what is causing all our individual rights to be destroyed for the greater good.

Most of us mistake democracy for freedom. Democracy has been the door to socialism in many countries like USSR, Germany, and Italy. All of them voted to allow their dictators to control them.
