Hello. Do any of you veterans of the network have a name of a BEA in Minnesota that you have high regards for? I read the forums every day to stay current and increase my knowledge. The different perspectives on issues is great! I have noticed though, that there doesn't seem to be anybody from Minnesota joining in. I will be when I catch up on my reading. Getting there. Thank you.

Good to see some fellow Northerners here......
I'm new to the site and it's refreshing to see all of the good info flowing here. Some of the other sites I've been checking out are a bit "over the top".

Just curious, I saw a previous post from back in 2006 regarding Less-Lethal munitons. Have you had any luck getting them and are they covered at all within our conceal and carry laws or some other laws within Minnesota??

Thanks

Brad
Do you have a CCW? If so, your handbook from the course will answer your questions on carry laws. It won't say anything about non-lethal munitions. We have access to purchasing them, but we don't carry them. Remember, just because they're called non-lethal or less-than-lethal, doesn't mean they won't kill!!! You can look under section 609 of the statutes to help answer your other questions. Opinions vary, but I personally won't carry them. If I have to draw my gun and use it, it's because a life is in danger. Dig through the forums and you'll find all kinds of opinions on it.

AAARRGGHHH !! I get so disgusted with that discussion.....THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "NON-LETHAL" ! WEAPONS/MUNITIONS PEOPLE !

Bean bag rounds, rubber batons, rubber slugs, chemical rounds, yadda yadda yadda all have very explicit criteria regarding deployment and usage. If those instructions are not followed to the "T", they can still maim or kill.

I agree. A gun is for one thing only.

I'm sure you guys have been doing this for a while so I won't claim to know if less-lethal would be good or bad for this line of work, but I will say that I taught a Chemical and Less-Lethal course for a while, and it does have a place in the Use of Force pyrimad if you will.

If things go bad fast, yes lethal force might be the only option, but for me, I'd like to have the choice of less-lethal if the situation allows for it. With that said, it was always taught that less-lethal is backed by lethal force should the first option fail. My feeling is that if you have a good plan, and have the proper support, less -lethal can be part of the toolbox. I'd rather explain a sore and bruised bad guy versus a likely dead guy.

My opinion only of course.

It's your choice. Try Streichers LE Supply or Lanes Self Defense.

Thanks, appreciate the info.
One last comment on LL. I come from primarily a DOC background where LL is the norm. I understand that in the real world "anything" can happen, so until I get a little more practical experience in this field I won't make any claims as to what will work and what won't. (does that even make sense??)

Anyway, I'm going back out to my private gas-chamber for another hit.
