Just like the topic says. I'm an ex police officer ( approx 9 years) major city in Ga. looking to get into the business not looking for anything else but to make some money and I miss the industry and do not want to start over in a different police department I also have armed security and personal protection experience in Virginia and was certified. I currently live in Indiana. How hard is it to get a license in the state of Indiana and how do I begin the process? Thanks for your help and input. |

Mr. Conley, Welcome to our forum... Please read the BEA FAQ section here, it addresses most of your questions generally; specifics regarding Indianna I refer you to David Martz, he is here on our forum. Additionally you can visit your homestate's DOI website as well as contacting your local courthouse/sheriff's dpt. etc. I would also suggest you use the "search" function on this site for most of your questions, as they have at 1 time or another been addressed over the years. |

Welcome, Jeff. Indiana's requirements changed recently to become more costly and restrictive. David is the one in the know on them. Plus, he's a really great guy! |

Welcome Jeff, Fugitive recovery and bail agents are regulated by the Indiana Department of Insurance. You can go to there web site for more info, www.in.gov/idoi/ There are two licenses available. Recovery only. and bail which includes recovery. For recovery you have to be a resident of Indiana a minimum of six months, and for bail, one year. For recovery and bail, 12 hour pre-license education, at $350. Application fee to the Department of Insurance for recovery is $300, and bail $650. A $100 testing fee for both, and credit report fee of $15, and criminal history background check $10. As you can see it is expensive here. $775 for recovery and $1125 for bail. Not to mention the bi-annual renewal fee, $300 for recovery and $650 for bail. You may call me for more information. Thanks Bob it's something I've been thinking about for awhile now. I beleive with my inner city experience I could do this job very well plus I did alittle on the side when I was a police officer for extra cash. I'm going to start the process next week. |
