Post subject: | Grump? |
Greetings All, You know, I just got in, and I'm a bit fatigued. This one jail two counties away is a very frustrating place to post bonds. So I write two bonds on the same guy off of the jail's information, and the court dates are changed when I try to post them. They don't allow white-out or scratch out but demand that the bonds be written again. Okay? So I go back on another guy who has three bonds. I meet with the people and do the preliminary paperwork. I try to post the bonds and one of them was erroneously entered with a zero missing. So I have to unload the cash for the original amount and give it back because now the whole thing is too expensive for the co-signers. Luckily, I was suppose to surrender a skip in court today, but the bail agent called and worked it out, so I don't have to travel again too soon this morning. In reading over some of my posts, I could see where I may come off as grumpy, and I want to assure everyone that I'm always thinking in the best interests of the trade tired or not. I believe that it is important to offer suggestions or ideas that are as true and ethical as is possible, and if feathers get ruffled along the way then state your case. If I'm wrong, misinformed or presented with good, contrary points, then I have no problem conceding to a good argument. Afterall, I'm a student of many subjects, and I'm always open to new ideas and ways of doing things. Respectfully Submitted, Rex |

Can you use an erasable pen on the bond so that if there is an error you can just erase and write over? |

Don't you or anyone else endeavor to take the title of Grump away from me. I am the Senior Grump and I will challenge any man to maintain the title. Being a Grump I am immune from the 'social niceties' and 'small talk' and speaking for any length of time with fools, idiots, halfwits, morons and mental midgets. I am the CHIEF GRUMP!!! I take the lead in GRUMPINESS! I am the GRUMP of all GRUMPS and damn proud of it! If anyone doesn't appreciate my status... go grump yourself (and you know what I really mean). |

Rex, just a question for you, you are a bail bondsman, right? for you to write bonds in court, did you have to get an attorney to petition the court? the reason I ask I am a license bail Bondsman in PA, except I can't write bonds until I have register my license in the court, and they tell me to get an attorney, but the sheriff office I could do it myself, so I just wanted to know how you went about yours. Thank you |

Thanks for all of the understanding. For those of you who don't know, L.A.W is an Icon in the bail enforcement trade who never sugar coats a single thing in favor of speaking his mind in very admirable terms. If you want a no-punches-pulled, down-to-Earth assessment of something then ask him, but be prepared to get the cold hard facts, which is more than the trepid may be able to bear robert78, No, I am not a bail bondsman in a legal sense. I am a bail insurance agent backed by several sureties to write appearance bonds. I'm not sure that I fully understand your question, so I'll hold off answering it at this time. What I can tell you is that I'm licensed and appointed to write bonds anywhere in California where the surety is doing business. Incidentally David, I've got some more ideas I'm kicking around to add to the fire so to speak. Rex |

Post subject: | PA Professional Bondsman |
Robert You hold the same type of Licence I do, we must have gotten our license around the same time because my license # is: 5000135, I simply filed a copy of my Professional Bondsman License with the Court Clerk here in Erie County after I received it from the PA Dept. of Insurance. The way it works in my County is I allow the Court Clerk's office to file a lien against my property (which must not have any existing liens) and I can write Bonds up to the assessed value of the property, I can also post cash Bonds if I wish, we are only allowed to charge 10% of the first $100 of the Bond and 5% of every hundred thereafter, a PA Surety Limited Producer "Bondsman" who writes Bonds through an Insurance company can charge 10% of the total Bond. I don't know why your County Clerk wants you to have an Attorney file a copy of your license with their office, maybe they want an attorney to draw up the paperwork necessary to file a lien on your property to secure the Bonds you write. |

Hey!! thank you for the information! I really and truly appreciate the information. I will get this done, one way or the other! I had my license for two years now and what's been keeping me completly writing bonds is the run around I'm getting to register it. By the way, do you recover your own skips? or have someone else do it? just curious. Thanks again! |
