Post subject:  Introduction and Question

Hi..I am a bail bondslady from a small town, Guthrie, OK. I have been in the business for over a year now and I have the same problem other small business owners in this field do ... not big enough bonds to hire someone, but I need to learn what to do when the guy runs out of state. I had one apprehended in KS by bounty hunters and I simply went and transported him back ... but now I have one that I have already paid a $1000.00 forfeiture on, and received recent information that he is in TX. I'm having a hard time letting go on this one (he was my first skip) and it irritates me to no end that I haven't been able to get him. I made a trip to GA and his family was hiding him so I had no luck then, and now I'm not sure what to do with my new information about his TX location.....anyone with any ideas???

Jacki, if the forfeiture was paid, does OK allow remission if the bail agent brings the defendant in? What is the time frame that you are still allowed to apprehend him?

We have several TX agents depending on where this person is.

Tell Danny hi...

Hi Kathy ..
A new law went into effect in November which gives us a full year after we pay a forfeiture to ask for a remittitur, but mine was only on the 90 day plan. I don't expect to get the money back (but maybe....going to do a bit of research on that one for precedents) but I've found I am a bit vindictive :) I'd just like to see him caught.
I emailed Danny today ... I'll tell him "hi" when he calls me back.
Thanks,
Jacki

Could have help when he was in Georgia :) . Sorry, just had to throw one out there. Jacki, you are in good hands with those that have already responded.

The reason I was asking about remission, is because if your time is up, you probably have no legal ability to go after him. Of course, if you should find that he has a felony warrant and know where he is you might put a bug in somebody's ear...

Snow, that was one of the calls you didn't get :( .

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I got a lot of good info and now I am prepared to drop that bug ... he does have a felony bail jumping warrant.
What can I say? I'm inexperienced in this and receive no guidance from my county ... I was told that "Law Enforcement will not do your job for you" so I thought I was on my own :) And since it was a little bitty bond, I really thought I was on my own. Good thing I found this place ... now maybe I can learn a few things and not make those mistakes again.
My thanks again,
J.
