This is just for my own knowledge. How many States are like Indiana and require full premium at time of posting Bond. As i have stated before it is a Class D felony to do A/R here. And the State does enforce this. Do you wish it was that way in your state? I know in CA this would not work as most people do not have $50,000 for jaywalking just lying around LOL

David, doesn't Indiana also require that the full 10% of the bond be charged for the premium? In other words, no discounting?

Personally, I would welcome such in Colorado. It would make the business more equitable with a bondsman having to gain business on his merits, rather than undercutting the competition, and taking less down on the premium than it costs many to write the bond. The combination of these causes many others to try and compete who are simply unable to do so.

The upside to this is that everyone would have the opportunity to make more money. The downside is that particularly on larger bonds, less defendants might be able to post the bond. Then again, this might also reduce the number of FTA's, since it seems the less a defendant has invested in his/her bond the more likely they are to not consider it important enough to go to court.

Here the fee is 10% plus the 48 state fee and the 20 jail fee, so minimum bond in Arkansas is 103.00
And yes there are those that will write for 0 down and knowing that they are probably not going to get paid just to write the bail out from under me. Now isn't that just the dumbest shit?

But that is ok, we all get what we need and sometimes even what we don't need

I would go for that here. Its been talked about locally and gentlemens agreements made. Seems there arent many gentlemen in this business here. Its so bad, I would guess we have to discuount or at least finance way over half the bonds just to get them. Cutthroat as it gets. Sad.

Two of our biggest competitors will say everyone charge full price and first call you get and quote full price, you will never hear from them again.

Total BS, but thats the way it is. So if you want to make money, you gotta do it.

There was some clown driving all the way from St Louis, over two hours, to one county that we have an office in. He was posting 25k bonds, for example, for 200 down. It hurt for a bit, but it bit him in the ass in a short period.

Funny thing is, he writes insurance. So he was in the hole to start with, plus the drive and I know several of those bonds were our rejects. He got broke from suckin eggs pretty quick.
