Post subject:  Greedy Streets

My local mentor and I were talking the other day about how reward offers are being inflated by the street.

Used to, an offer of $20 would locate our skips for us, then it went to $50, now it's up to $100 or more. The street isn't dumb either. Alot of times they already know the bond amounts, and they're figuring the percentages...like the number's racket.

I've had them tell me several times, I know where he is, but it's going to cost you. Sometimes their fee for doing their "civic duty" is higher than my commission !

The other battle to this issue is the client. Trying to persuade them to come off the money to pay snitch fees is like pulling teeth ! They figure they can wheel n deal with the courts and get the forfeiture amount reduced to something everyone can live with.

I have several skips out on 3-5k bonds. I can't get anywhere with them. My mentor said I was going to have to offer rewards from between 300-500 to get them in. I don't think my clients are going to do that.

Anyone else experiencing this trend ?

Its just another street hustle, you pay to play the game. The streets have never been stupid. Low bail amounts can be paid off cheaper than the amount paid you to find them and re-arrest. The days of the $20 snitches are over with.

My standard "Informant Fee" is $25, period. When they complain, I tell them, "$25 is 2 rocks and a burger. Easy money for just a phone call." And they still call.

100 will get you info on most smaller bonds here. 500 on the bigger ones.

Ive never seen the 20 dollar days. I guess that must have been before I started. How long have you been in business Mindtracker?

I usually tell them there is a reward. When they say how much, I tell them it depends on the info. Put them in my lap and its much more than a tip. We just got a 10k back last week for 200. His friends to the end werent 200 bucks worth of friends. LOL

I get a kick out of that.

I have been in and out of Law Enforcement/Military/Private Sector, intermittently for 26 years now. I enlisted in the Army MP's when I was 17, a defered enlistment until I graduated High School.

I began PI/BEA work in June of 2000.

Yeah, I started in Feb 2000. I thought we had been in about the same from bits and pieces gathered.

My partner has been bonding since 1983. Hes seen some real "stuff". He was talking about the days when 10 bucks could get some info. He was a deputy sheriff in this county we live in before that, so he has a pretty intimate knowlege of the criminal families. Were on some 3rd generation clients here locally. LOL
