Indeed this has been happening for some time in the name of budget constraints or just plain old negligence on the part of those tasked with inputting watrants into the ncic. When I was a state constable in PA I had a felony warrant for a defendant that lived just across the border in OH, the DA was not interested in extradition so he just went on with his business until he made the dumb move of coming to shop at the Wal Mart on the PA side of the state line. And don't get me started on immigration fugitives, if they can pay their bond they are free to take off and never return to court. |

Oh, it gets even better for us in California. We just had dinner this weekend with friends in Nevada, south of Reno. The husband is a investigator ( detective ) for the sheriffs department. He told me that because of CA AB109 that released 10s of thousands of prison inmates EARLY back to the counties and they in turn released them often with no supervision, his area is seeing an increase in CA criminals coming in and committing crimes there. The sheriff investigators interview the criminals and find out that more and more are early releases inmates from California. The releasees have no fear of having their "parole" violated out of state because most of the time, the other state will not inform CA. On top of that if they tried, it would take quite awhile to find out who is suppose to be monitoring the guy, so they don't bother anymore. Thank you Governor Brown and the liberal state legislators! You are exporting a part of CAs criminal problem to other states. |
