It cracks me up the other morning I goto the jail in Miami at 5am to post a bail bond and when I'm almost leaving this lady asks if I'm a bondsman and if I can bond her husband outta jail. His bond is $5000 for Possession of Controlled Substance (2 Pills - MDMA)...I verify the bond and its a secure bond.. the lady is a nurse and lives with her husband near the jail for 20 yrs in a private house...so I say sure and start the paperwork and then one of the local Bail Bond hustlers that solicit all the time when they are at the jail comes into jail and walks up to me and says to me "hey that's my client".. I'm like oh..?? Then the lady says to the hustler "I don't know you...I didn't call you.". this lady tells me that someone called her asking for a credit card over the phone...and she explained to me that she was not giving some stranger a credit card that she didn't know over the phone, she goes on to ask this other bail bondsman that approached us how did you get my phone #? -and then tells this bondsman point blank "I'm using this guy"..(pointing at me).. This hustler then looks at me and says "This is my client" and all I do is look up at her and shrug my shoulders and say "according to her no she is not" - Then this other bail bondsman happened to submit a request to write the bond I was doing for this lady and said to me .."Well its my bond cause I put the slip in first" ..I told the lady I was gonna write the bond for ..Hey if she writes your husband's bond then I guess her company took your husband out of jail for free.. I will return your $500 and you save your money, do not pay her a dime and if they threaten you that they will arrest your husband and put him back into the jail .. I then tell this lady On Monday to call the Dept of financial services and tell them that they bailed out your husband without any authorization from ANYBODY and WITHOUT ANY MONEY and no paperwork ... I gave her the phone # to the State... right in front of this loser bondsman.. Then this lady goes to the window and requests to speak to a Supervisor...and tells this Lt. that she didnt call this lady (bondsman) and doesnt know how they got her #..they apparently were "working" the computer looking at the last 100 booked and ran a skip trace and found the wife's cell # .. told her to give a CC# over the phone to post the bond for her husband..when she didnt even know her husband was in jail yet.. she called the jail found out he was there and left work where she was a nurse and went right to the jail where she bumped into me... The supv / LT went into the back and spoke with her husband and verified her husband did not call any bondsman at all... the Lt comes back out and asks that other bondsman who they have as the caller / indemnitor of the bond... this bondsman replies "This lady here" (pointing at the deft's wife).. and says her name to the LT... then the deft's wife screams " I DIDNT CALL YOU ...!!! YOU CALLED ME AT 4:30am at my Work on my Cell asking me for money!!!" The Lt kicked out that other bondsman and I wrote the bond and this hustler left pissed off...oh well too bad so sad...
So I wrote the bond..and we lived happily ever after..
The moral to this story is when you try and play the game dirty and get beat by someone playing the game legit don't get mad ...just suck it up and walk away..
