Hey ya'll. Well, now that I have been bail bonding for a total of four months I have quickly seen the backstabbing and everyone out for themselves side of things. Seems like everyone in my area hates and talks trash about everyone else.

I left my supervising agent because after learning a little about the business I realized that I was not getting any training and was just making a posting rate, even on bonds I brought in myself. Sure hope the next supervising agent I get actually teaches me more about the industry.

Thanks for letting me rant.

... wait till you've been doing this for a few years.... it won't change, unfortunately.... it is the nature of the business... about all you can do is be "true to yourself".... just be extremely aware of who and what and how you operate.... the cream will rise to the top and the sht will usually sink.... nature of the beast...

... sounds like you've learned a lot in the first 4 months.... keep at it..... and join NABBI.... that organization is a bright spot in a sometimes shady industry.... and we work to turn on the lights and brighten up the room.... "know what I mean Vern?" 8)

You are a fast learner. It takes most new bail bond owners about 1 year to see the dark side, corruption, supervising agents true colors, scams, cons, etc...

Good luck out there.

Yep, the above responses are accurate. i had the benefit of learning from a few good agents, one being my father and another being a mutual friend of ours that has been in the business for a while and is active in local politics. We are also fellow American Legion and 40/8 members. That being said, I have a few that can trust and we toss eachother business when we can. I have been in the bail business for a year, this November and it took a while, but I am starting to see some of the shit sink, as Speezak so eloquently put it. lol. Stick with it and look for side gigs to make some money at when business is slow. Business is feast or famine in my neck of the woods and I won't risk my license, freedom, or future employability for any bond.
Everyday I learn something new, get a little bit better at my job, and maybe hear another crazy story from a client. That is what I look forward to every day and why, even if it comes down to me not relying on bail bonding as my principle source of income, I will maintain my license and standards and work around the shady side/ people in this line of work.
