you might try a yukon as well. they can be converted to rifle scopes with a kit that yukon sells. sure you may never use it as such but I love multitasking things.

Got some cool features on it too as well.

I hope that you are not seriuos about the Iraq gig Don. Money is not everything even when we are hurting real bad and I know that you know this, it is just to risky for the money.

actually I am serious. I am on the roster for a fellow here in the states but also my resume is being held for reference untill I get my passport for a romanian company (one of the guys I met in Lousianna left on assignment for that company a couple of weeks ago).

Work around here is scarce right now so I got to do something. I really do not want to go back into retail management right now and I also do not feel like going back to police work in general so hopefully I can get that gig.

As far as getting hurt... got my share of scars and close calls already, anything worse and I'd be dead LOL. Definately a higher risk though.

My luck I probalby won't be able to go due to other people ahead of me but we shall see how the dice falls.

Yeah, it can sometimes be tough on the roller coaster income ride common to specialized self-employment such as bail bond troubleshooting, and just repairing a 3rd generation rig is big-time expensive!

Bishopp, I wish you the best of luck and may god be with you. I say as a voice of experiance having worked in iraq for a year already as a civilian going outside the wire. If you stay inside the wire it is not that bad, but if you will be going out side it , well all i can say is it gets pretty damn hairy.
If your prior trainning was good and you have the heart and right frame of mind you might be all right. Keep one thing in mind, are you willing to do what ever it takes to stay alive and to try to insure the same for your team members ? As for some others that say you should not do it the chances are that they can't or will not do it and think that they have the right to tell others they should not. I heard the same thing before i went over but i know what i can and will do. it was proven over the year i was there. and for the ones who will be offended by what i have writen, we are all grown up deal with it.
When the RPGs,IEDs and rounds start to cause all hell to break lose remember your trainning and keep a cool head for your life will not be the only one on the line. What we do here in the states as recovery agents is nothing like bieng over there. For the most part the insurgents are cowards using women and children as shields and you can not distinguish the good from the bad.

Thanks Jeff, glad you made it back from that mess. My cousin just got back from Afghanistan and is now a DI at Leonardwood (my old basic training post LOL).

Hopefully my military and le training serves it's purpose if I am lucky enough to go.

Though one never knows untill one goes through something, I am confident my experiences have made me mentally capable of doing what needs to be done when and should the need arise. No matter what I am loathe to dishonor my ancestors, friends, and family.

My passport just came in and I submitted my resume to three different agencies. Got my fingers crossed but it might be a couple of months.

One of my friends has already left several weeks ago doing convoy escorts for a Romanian company. Haven't heard anything back yet so I hope he is ok.

In the meantime it's the waiting game.
