I'd like to know what title you prefer on your business card(s), especially if you use more than one business card for yourself, and if you prefer to have your colleagues use different titles. Below is a starting list. Feel free to ADD to it, as I am forever looking for additional ideas: Bail Enforcement Agent Bounty Hunter Case Director Case Agent Case Operative Counter Intelligence Agent Counter Intelligence Examiner Counter Intelligence Director Counter Intelligence Operative Intelligence Agent Intelligence Operative Intelligence Examiner Intelligence Director Recovery Agent Recovery Operative Recovery Examiner Recovery Officer Recovery Director Domestic Intelligence Officer Examination Officer Examination Director Examination Agent Examination Operative Special Agent Special Investigator Special Intelligence Investigator Tactical Enforcement Agent Command Agent Licensed Private Investigator Private Investigator Case Examiner Examinations Analysis Consultant Audit Specialist Research & Integrity Agent Agent Services Intelligence Agent Research Services Records Services. (Unfortunately, it appears I cannot edit this thread once I post it, in order to ADD to the list. But I will keep track by posting replies with your ideas and suggestions). |

I personally would not use any of those titles that you listed on any of my business cards that are given to the public. For the public: T. Soule Surety Bond Forfeiture Investigator -------------------------------------------- For Bondsman, Attorneys and LE Personnel: Timothy A. Soule Bail Bond Recovery Agent Process of Service/Private Investigator -------------------------------------------- For Private Investigations/Process Serving: T. Soule Investigator/Process Server -------------------------------------------- I use the title "Surety Bond Forfeiture Investigator" because it helps put people that I am talking to at ease, especially the indemnitors. I generally explain to them that I am here to help protect not just the Surety company's financial interest but theirs as well. It tends to work most times when the indemnitor(s) feel that you are on their side by not wanting them to have to pay out any more money than they have to (especially when collateral is involved). Because a lot of the public has gotten a bad taste of "bounty hunters" through public media such as "Dog" and his little cohort family, as well as the few "bounty hunters" that make the media for their unsavory actions, they are less likely to help us out. I found this particular avenue of approach that I implimented works fairly well for me. It's not 100% full proof, but I do find that most of the time, I get better information and intel from the people I do speak with. |

Well, I have a badge (I think it is in my underwear drawer) and an ID card (I think that is in the sock drawer)... and a title.... but I am but a lowly bondsman so my cards only say............... "Bail Bonds" with my name and PO Box... I have two with slightly different wording since I work several different counties... the back is the same... I don't even put my name on the front cause it just "busy" it up a bit... name on the back... besides, most people could care less who I am just as long as I get the bond done... of course during the conversation I certainly identify myself... but when I answer the phone for example... I simply say "Bail Bonds"... no company name, no personal name... just quick business... My badge has my name and the wording... "Bail Bonds" on it so there is no question as to what I am... my ID card simply is a photo copy of the license with my picture that was issued by DCJS... in a plastic holder with a little clip that I can attach to my shirt or belt... I am not one for titles... I have always aspired to the 'kiss' principle and that applies to most things in life... of course being 'simple' is my forte... but titles have a way of confusing rather than clarifying sometimes... and too many people, I have found are hung up on titles... I was gonna put a title on my cards... what some people refer to me as... but I didn't think "azzhole" would be to cool... My cards and all my advertizing simply has my company name and bail bondsman with my numbers and address on the back... website and email is also on there in smaller print... BTW... I designed the cards myself and had them printed on "VistaPrint" cheap... again, no sense in spending a lot of money for effect... it can be done smarter... IMHO. I am in the process of obtaining a PI license... just getting in to the schooling process and I will go slow with that... if I am successful in that endeavor I may have business cards printed that have that title and then again I may just add it to my existing ones... not sure... will have to see how that activity goes. |

The title on your business cards is more closely associated with your licensure and the specific title you are allowed to use. In VA, I am a Private Investigator, in MD, I am a Private Detective. The old version of the PI license in MD has Maryland State Police in bold letters across the top and in unbolded print and smaller type, Private Detective, I do not understand their reasoning, because it can absolutely be misleading. Maybe that is why they changed them. We are not hung up on titles or badges, both can be misunderstood and result in trouble with citizens as well as law enforcement. Scott |

I don't use or see a need for a title, either. My cards simply have my company name, my name and contact information and a small tag line that says "Bail Emforcement/Fugitive Recovery Services". This has worked well for me. |

Mine just says "Owner." I do quite a few different services though and have one card for all of it. |
