Post subject:  This is not the way to solicite new business...

I am going to post this in the public area in the slight chance that it may help new members in our industry learn a little something about approaching prospective clients.

These types of contact email and calls come to us on a regular basis and I can only hope this post will be instructional. What usually happens, unfortunately... is that the persons who send these types of emails... usually get irritated quickly and start spouting off obscenities and verbal confrontational posts and we end up having to delete them....

I received this email today... I have removed any contact info and only retain the main subject matter, so it does not reflect any personal info on the sender.

I am responding in the public arena in hopes of providing a bit of insight into your solicitation techniques.

Please note the following:

1. There is no mention of who you are interested in finding... no name, and I have no way of identifying the subject you seek.

2. Your grammar and punctuation reflect a lack of communication skills which in turn would absolutely reflect on your work habits and possible successes in this industry.

3. You have provided no information on who you are... what your qualifications are... whether you are new or old in this business... what your background might be... who you may have worked for or with in the past and not providing these bits of information will absolutely stop anyone of quality in our business from doing business with you or your organization.

4. One of the main items not mentioned is whether you are compliant and legal in your state... it is absolutely imperative that you provide all this information... before anyone will employ you.

I hope you will see this and take it to heart. It is not intended to hurt your feelings but I can tell you that until you "polish up your act"... you will very likely not see too much business coming your way... at least not from the professional side of this industry.
